Self portrat figure

I thought I read a post on here a while back about making a Joe figure of yourself. I finally finished mine. Just did it how I usually dress (minus the AR. But I usually have the .45 in a Blackhawk Serpa CQB holster). Couldn't find just the exact parts but I used what I had. The Wild Bill head worked perfect but the belt buckle was a tad off. Hard to make Wrangler Jeans. Don't remember what all I used since It's been a while since I started this, but finally got it finished. Enjoy.

It is hard...that's why generally I just stick to part swaps, but I think the results of self customs usually come out awesome...I completely sweat you painting skills looks great!

Yea, I started this months ago and kept getting frustrated over how things were going together. It's hard to find a figure wearing Wrangler Cowboy cut jeans. I wound up using legs from an extra QK.

yeah i get in as many fights as a gi joe. haha ive actually gotten three more facial scars since then.

one of which was from a fucking car cigarette lighter to the face. haha

the forehead scar is from headbutting a guy.

Actually Im a backyard wrestler.

I havent been in a "real" fight in about five years. In which a couple guys accused me of breaking the window of their car with my fist and then proceeded to beat me to a bloody pulp.

I ended up lighting up a cigarette and laughing about it a minute later.

Ive been hurt way worse in backyard wrestling. hell, one time i beat a guy with a toilet plunger after he broke a picture frame over my head and beat me with a piece of broken wood with nails in it and i ended up winning the fight and breaking his nose.

after the fight he gave me a very real evenflow ddt and my friends nearly called the hospital.

Kinda weird you guys would give me shit, i thought a fondness for senseless violence was part of the fun of the hobby.

Definitely going in the wrong direction. I thought it would be neat to see if people could create themselves in figure form. Most of these customs on here are wonderful art work and a lot of time,thought, and talent went into them. I found it is harder to do a replica of yourself than it is to come up with one out of the blue.

i had to stop doing it because i suffered a ridiculously bad concussion that im pretty sure left me actually insane. im still waiting to see if the weird stops. yeah... my last battle was with a car. spent two months in bed hallucinating the craziest shit you would believe.

it gets gruesome. we try to kill eachother for real. but we always laughing and buddies after the fight.

i got ten grand in the bank and get paid 100 an hour.

i also added another picture of me all fucked up to the last one.

i have every type of burn bruise laceration and bite mark imaginable.

last time i tried to count my scars i stopped at seventy something.

im a pretty dope painter and have made thousands doing that shit.


i can see how i look like a dumbass totally. but it paid off. when you try to make money you are selling yourself.
and when you do crazy enough shit you dont need a highschool diploma. haha

oh shit, you asking me what custom works for you. i thought those were two different people and i was thinking wow, perfect match.

yeah like i said im drunk...

uhhh... well i used a crappy movie duke head for my custom.

just get a head that hits the closest shape of your own noggin and then sculpt it to look accurate. it helps if you overexxagerate [<--too drunk to spell that correcltly i know the spelling usually] the features.

the thing is, you have to paint the details and maybe sculpt a bit to fit the features.

if you can make it accurate from like four feet away it's a success. the thing about any custom is it has to look good from a distance. it's like a painting. you have to take a step back and look at it and see if you can recognize it.

when youre working with such a tiny medium you have to make it pop out.

if you cant sculpt or paint... id go for breaker's head.

you can use almost any head and get good results if you can paint well enough. the shading and stuff can look fine from a reasonable display distance.

my pics came from a web cam. but mine look pretty accurate with duke heads on a variety of my friends because you can subtly influence the sculpt with shading on the paint.

That photo of me was taken in Kuwait right before deploying into Iraq (2005). We switched to the Army Combat Uniforms about 6 months in. I still wore the desert BDUs most of the time since you would sweat your balls off in the new stuff.
