So in the history of video games, which bosses made you throw controllers, go on cursing rants, grind your teeth...lose your mind and finally...figure out how to beat them?

Here are some that come to mind:

Mike Tyson in Punch-Out, I think made me say the words "I don't fucking believe this!" for the 1st time in my life.

Lasy guy in Ninja Gaiden for N.E.S.

Oh, man the last boss on Smash TV...what was his name? I think he gave me Tourettes.

It took me months, and probably hundreds of dollars, to get the boss on the jet level of time pilot.

And i still hate that helicopter one, too...

The only one that springs to mind immediately is the Devil Gundam in DW:G2 in the mission where you can only use a Zaku Tank.

You know what, the Devil Gundam in general in that game. I hate that biomechanical SOB.

I'm so awful at most video games that they've all made me throw down my controller and "walk-away" for a bit before trying again. Why just last week I had a mini-seizure fighting the robot boss in Force Unleashed 2 that tries to keep you from turning on the power of a ship... while sending tiny spider-robots and invisible ninja aliens after you... I finally changed the difficulty to "easy" to beat him... I wish life had a "difficulty" selection option for when things get too tough :)

Oh man, I was hoping this thread was about real life bosses, like at our jobs...

Videogame-wise, though, the one that sticks out in my minds is all the tripods at the end of Half-Life 2 episode 2. I just could.not.defeat.them. Must've tried for three hours before I finally did it.

Dark Gaia/Perfect Dark Gaia, Sonic Unleashed.

He's alright on his own, apart from being a freaking three-stage marathon boss. But add to that the fact that he shows up after Eggmanland (IT IS PERFECT HELL!), an hour-long level of bottomless pits, vanishing platforms, masher thingies that launch you OFF the stage, and constantly switching between Day and Night play styles, THEN having to fight Egg Dragoon right after you clear the level (who admittedly is pretty easy), fatigue and rage sets in, and...

You know what, I'm not saying any more. Too many bad memories.

Gill from SF 3 3rd strike for the console. I had no problem spanking that thong wearing punk with Ibuki in the arcade but the dreamcast version was a pain in the ass to beat.

And pretty much all of the bosses of Super Contra III.

The guy at the end of the Jungle stage in Sega's GHOST Squad. The one on the boat with the shield? Yeah. He's a *****.

the easiest was always bowser at the end of the mario games. hard as he'll to get to, ridiculously easy to beat, except for mario bros. wii, he was a little harder.

Tyson was insane, I mean that was about as real as you were gonna get.

Mike Tyson beating my 10 yr old self...basically how it happened, was how it would have happened.

Bison was indeed a bitch. Especially in SFII but the time Championship rolled around, I was keen to his cheating whore ways.

I remember thinking Sagat was the last guy and being all happy. Didn't last long.

Shao Kahn - Mortal Kombat 3/UMK3/Trilogy (never beat him on a difficulty above easy)
Marka Ragnos on highest difficulty - Star Wars: Jedi Academy
Tyrant on airplane - Resident Evil: Code Veronica X

Shao Kahn wasn't that bad. Getting to him and beating that damn half horse dude was the hardest part for me.

If you taught that the Tyrant was hard wait till you make it to Veronica. I had to replay the whole game because I did not have the weapons and the medication enough to beat her.

Motaro was easy to beat if you used Sheeva and jumped up and down on his punk ass

That fucker from Bubble Bobble was hard-never did beat him. Even on two player mode.

I could beat Kahn on easier difficulties in MK3/Trilogy, it was the difficulties above medium that gave me a hard time.

The reason the Tyrant was so tough for me on the plane is the same reason you had trouble with Alexia in CV/X, I wasted all my ammo on other enemies and only had a clip of pistol ammo by the time I got to the plane so I also had to go back and restart the game from the beginning. Luckily I anticipated this my second play through and saved my more powerful weapons for Alexia later on.

I forgot about RAAM. My buddy told me before hand to snipe him but I ended up getting killed by those bat things so finally I resorted to just shooting him with the Lancer until he died. He was indeed a bitch to beat.

Mike Tyson on Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is definitely up there. This being in the day before online FAQs or YouTube hint/guide videos, it was really, really tough to figure out the timing to avoid his attacks, especially since getting hit once could end your game right there.

A lot of those old NES game final bosses were just brutal: Shredder on the original NES TMNT game was virtually impossible to beat if you'd already lost Donatello (lord help you if you were stuck with Raphael or Michealangelo), and every "mini-boss" in the second half of Ninja Gaiden could test the patience of a saint (and the final boss was super cheap), and I never did beat the Joker in the first Batman movie tie-in game.

Zeus from GoW3 took his toll on me. I walked away from the game for two weeks came back and beat him first thing off.

Gonna sound stupid but the NES Version of The Incredible Crash Dummies game was stupidly hard too. I don't think I ever made it to the final boss.
