CC marries his pet, Serpentor, in honor of the royal wedding.
It is a beautiful ceremony, this union of the snake, and cc picked just the right dress (not the one that had the frumpy bottom and made him look fat).
I like his flower selection.
pink and blue, his favorite colors.

Man, took the words right out of my mouth. I wish we at least had the prospect of getting a toy of those flight pods, they look like an awesome update, and the pilots look really cool.
Overall, another very good episode. And the last 10 minutes or so were especially great. And wow, that was quite a surprise at the end, when the Twins broke free. Good for them.
Cobra really seems to be ratcheting things up in the "global domination schemes" department lately.

I love this series! My surprise (to me anyway) favorite character by far has been the Baroness. She IS the main evil mover and shaker!

We got so much goodness...
1. Oktober Guard (I'll pretend that was my favorite OG member - Horrorshow - it looked more like him :) )
2. The true Cobra logo - was this the first time in the series?
3. Trouble bubbles
4. The seed planted for Extensive Enterprises
All in all this episode was full of Joe mythology...

True, she really has been doing most of Cobra's heavy lifting throughout the series, hasn't she. Cool to finally get a glimpse of where she's from as well, and to get some of her own personal and family history (namely, the whole Cisarnova vs. Red Star's people thing).
And man, Destro and the Baroness have some serious real estate between them. Baroness seems to practically have an entire small nation or province under her heel over there in Eastern Europe.

It’ll be very interesting to see what happens with this. I can’t imagine the Twins will be eager to have much of anything to do with Cobra from now on, unless it is a very grudgingly formed alliance between Cobra and the Twins’ own independent organization (be it Extensive Enterprises, another cult, or something else).
Honestly, I felt pretty bad for the Twins, with the way they’ve been treated by Mindbender. Looked like a very painful and humiliating period of captivity. I think they’re gonna be really pissed off at Cobra for a very long time.

Great review G Hawk! You mentioned that tension and conflict between Duke and Red Star, which I too really liked. It sort of showed two opposite ends of the “good guy” spectrum, with Duke displaying his incorruptible moral and ethical principles, against the “anything for victory, ends justify the means” approach of Red Star. And with Scarlett’s attitude falling somewhere in the gray area middle of those two positions.
You can kind of see how, without the influence of someone like Duke, Scarlett could eventually end up a bit like Red Star, someone who might be willing to incur collateral civilian “damage” for the end purpose of an important mission.

Great episode.
When Red Star showed up, I was thinking Gung Ho, then I was racking my brain when I saw the star tatt. But when he started talking and said about the OG, I was like "SWEET, its Horror Show!" When Baroness called him Col. Krimov it made me scratch my head. But hey its cool we get a amalgem of the 2.

Cool. Lets hope the breaks are over. I feel like it takes about 2 or 3 good episodes to get a solid momentum going again, and those breaks really hindered that.
So, I guess we might be getting the finale sometime in mid-June, instead of mid-to late-July (barring any more breaks).
Now if they could only bump up the release of some of the Renegades figures to coincide with the finale...

This series is getting better & better- the introduction of Red Star of the Oktober Guard was f***ing superb (hope we get him in figure form).I like most people will not like the hiatus on Season 2 but can't wait til the first is released on Dvd.

There is now such a nice group of cobra troopers I want in figure form, from the generic troopers and pilot we are already getting to the snow troopers and now the trouble bubble pilots. Man, what great designs!

General Hawk mentioned it on his generalsjoes' review as well, but I thought it was worth mentioning again:
The amount of history and digging that went into the motivations for Red Star was amazing. Quoting a Prussian general on war strategy, his Marxist views of overthrowing the ruling class... And with the Baroness and Tunnel Rat making communist/historical references (b: "my family has ruled through the czars, communists, and the capitalists..." and tr's "may day" comment), I was really happy with this episode.
Maybe this is my history geek side showing through, but I think it really shows how much the writers care about this show, and I hope it really does pick up again after the movie next summer. It would be AMAZING to see this storyline turn into a full blown multi-season story.
Also: the new trouble bubbles! I always hated the originals because the design makes no sense (from a military perspective). They fixed it here by having the opening in the top, and not the bottom (since when using them you'll obviously only be taking fire from the bottom...).
Ah, great episode.

Another great episode!! I think my favorite part was near the end when Mindbender and Baroness were wrestling around on the floor like a brother and sister having a fight.
I also picked up a little flirting with Duke and Scarlett near the end as well, which will make it interesting since the show has pointed toward she and SE being a thing.
When, in the Joe universe, have we first seen Red Star? I know we got a figure of him in the 25th comic packs, but I wasn't familiar with him before that. I remember the OG in the Marvel comic series, especially within the first 10 issues, but I don't remember him. Did he show up in later issues? I can't remember.

I'm a Red Star fan & surprised he was even on... I don't think I have ever seen a animated show with so much scarring or facial disfigurement. lol
It sounds like Extensive Enterprises is creeping it's way in. I loved the scene with Baroness & Mindbender fighting to the death... & some of Snake's sweet moves... great history...
That being said it was also another "flavor of the week" episode & I hope before it all ends we some how break that mold.

True, but brainwashing Mindbender (as well as innumerable innocents) into stealing millions of dollars for them, you gotta admit they had it coming in spades.
The amount of history and digging that went into the motivations for Red Star was amazing. Quoting a Prussian general on war strategy, his Marxist views of overthrowing the ruling class... Writing for animation in general has gotten a LOT better since Batman TAS and X-Men came on the scene and upped the bar. This is what I mean about a show having genuine maturity as opposed to blood and shooting. There was actual differences in philosophical outlook being displayed by the assorted characters that make them feel a lot more real than just some action arch-type.

I think someone did mention it somewhere here, but the symbol appeared on the main screen right after the CEOs got hypnotized by the Black Adders, and later on the screens in the room where Mindbender was keeping the Twins.

I really, really, really hope they bring back Renegades and make it similar to the story line they are creating now.
Yeah, I sincerely hope that the future cartoon gets the chance to pick up on the basic storyline where Renegades season 1 leaves off. A good foundation has been built. I think there are certain episodes that weren't necessary, but I guess that's true of any animated series.
So, what I really want to see survive into the future of the brand are the Renegades storyline and universe, and the designs (for both characters and vehicles). Now, by designs, I don't mean the art style itself, which I have been so-so about, neither loving it nor hating it. But as for the designs themselves—they seem easily translatable into different styles (just look at the toys!). Clem’s underlying design vision is fantastic (for the most part), IMO.

Now if they could only bump up the release of some of the Renegades figures to coincide with the finale...
Amen!! The show will be on perm hiatus before we see a single figure which certainly DOES NOT take advantage of any momentum the show would have had in attracting young viewers of the show to the toy aisle.
I know when I was a youngster if I saw action figures on the shelve which directly coincided with a show I was already enjoying I'd beg my parents to buy them! As it is the show will be in reruns by the time the figures hit (ostensibly), but kids' interest may have wained by then and I see the whole thing as missed opportunity.

I don’t know if this sort of thing would be feasibly, but my dream scenario would be if these things would be able to happen simultaneously, or in close succession: Airing of the Renegades Finale (in mid- or late-June), release of the first few Renegades figures, release of the DVD (with a special figure packaged inside? Could they?), and start of the reruns with a marathon or two.
