I have to admit I've always been a Voltar fan. Although by 1988 I was reaching the end of my initial Joe collecting days, Voltar and the rest of the IG's were a must buy at the time. Especially for a Flash Gordon fan! :)

Voltar like Lt. Falcon, was a character that sounded pretty sweet on the file card, but the comics and cartoon never did him justice.

Looking forward to see what else you put in the Voltower.

In my Joe-Verse, Voltar has Prince Vultan's personality from the 1980 "Flash Gordon" film. Anyone who'd wear that outfit into battle is hardly going to be a wallflower.

My current plan is to document additions here as I make them.

Was Voltar ever in the DiC series? I don't think he was. Also, as far as I know, he was never animated for any of the comic/toy commercials, either.

It's part of his mystique.

Hey the art on the brazilian card is different than on the us release.

Indeed it is! Mestre Rapina is that character's name and he includes an Alley Viper gun, another pistol I don't recognize and a Destro piano death disc launcher with orange discs. He's also much more a berry color than his typical fuchsia and the gold is more an antique gold. I was blissfully blessed to score two of them at Joecon...while wearing my Voltar costume, no less.

I'm now going to research and see if Voltar appeared on any vehicle box art. I don't think he ever did, alack and alas.

I always rather liked Voltar, too. Even in all his fuschia glory, and it was largely because of his filecard. I've often wondered what he'd look like if the fuschia bits were more a solid (IG-ish) red instead. Though I suppose that'd probably make him look too CG-ish. But Black and Gold would just seem too...subdued...for him.
