I haven't been able to find the Red Shadows trade paperback at a decent price. I also can't find any images online of Lady Jaye's funeral. Does anyone have those, or maybe be willing to scan and post them? Thanks.

It wasn't in the monthly comics, it was part of the additional pages for the trade....which annoyed me to no end.

If it's in the trade then I won't have it.

Yeah it was clear that at the time of the trade release DDP was knee deep in the backlash of killing Lady Jaye...and falling sales...and the awful direction America's Elite was off on, that they needed some hook to get some people to buy the trade, and hopefully give some fans a little closure with the death of LJ.
I personally haven't seen them, because I just couldn't justify buying the trade for a page or two.
Trades are to collect a story, not a desperate hook to pull more money in.

They were going to kill a LOT more Joes in the WWIII storyline, but they got the word from Hasbro not to do it and they were losing the license anyway. They had it all set up to wipe a bunch of characters out. Now that whole run is considered an "alternate reality".

They still killed quite a few and had a lot who had ambiguous ends.
I think the problem was1. teh death couldn't be shocking since it was advertized for months with only one real candidate and 2. the red shadows story arc was rushed 3. too much of the story became driven by the editors rather than the writer.

The funny part is Hama killed off the same amount of characters(if not more) and he is the best thing to happen to joe.DDP brings joe back(noone would touch gijoe around this time)I credit them with the reason for a 25th anni. and putting joe back in the spotlight. It may be a "alt. reality" for some. Its canon for me...The IDW crap is the alt. reality.

I can take or leave any of the comic verses.
Personally...
-DDP's original extension is ok but yeah the complaints voiced are all valid...I think it sufers from writer / editor struggles...and while not popular the sudden shift with at AE is terrible.
-IDW's restart of Marvel is....lacking.
-IDW's reboot is okay at best.

When Hama killed off somebody, it seemed to matter. DDP just seemed to kill off characters for the sake of killing off characters. For example they killed off Tracker, who had never even been seen before in the comic series. And I still don't know what purpose his dead served the story line.
I'd say that the only deaths DDP got right was Flash and Mainframe's. That had resonance with me.
