So I decided to get into the IDW trades that are out after I read the Infestation books. But with the three titles I don't know where I should start. If I was going by title I would guess that Origins would be needed to be read before I read the others. So I figured I would ask here, which order should I read the trades in?

They're really all pretty separate. You could read the first two Cobra TPBs without reading the regular Joe series, or the Origins series.

I just figured they where all part of the same big universe, just three separate titles sort of like Batman has Batman, Detective Comics, and Batman Inc. right now. I guess that is why I asked, to make sure I was reading the overall story in order.

G.I. Joe Vol. 1 #0 Duke Origin Part first
Origins 1-6 or 8 or so (first two arcs)
G.I. Joe Vol. 1 #0 Dixon/Atkins part
G.I. Joe Vol. 1 #1-26
G.I. Joe Vol. 1 #0 Chuckles part
G.I. Joe Cobra #1-4
G.I. Joe Cobra Special
G.I. Joe Cobra II #1-4
G.I. Joe Cobra Special 2
G.I. Joe Cobra II #5-13
G.I. Joe #27

Origins #9-on can be read whenever.

For the most part the titles don't intersect timeline wise until the last issue of both Cobra and Joe.

Is there TPB with the Saw-Viper massacre issues?
Been meaning to find that entire war period or the Cobra Civil War 1

Ah, that's all the Marvel line - the original ARAH. The Cobra Island Civil War takes place in issues that are covered in TPB 8.

This is a natural place to start, it throws you right into the action, the Civil War story arc has everything you might be looking for in G.I.Joe, (with the liberating exception of copious ninja action). You'll see plenty of Joes and Cobras getting facetime, you'll see lots of cool vehicles being used in combat - the plot is straightforward though not entirely predictable, and it's one of the few times the Joe book has successfully represented a large- scale military engagement. There are also strong issues leading up to and following the actual war, and I think these are included in this TPB too.

The "SAW Viper Massacre" is part of a much larger story arc that is covered in the newest one that came out (number 11), and number 12, which will be out some time this summer. Since theis story arc goes over two TPBs, one of which isn't out yet, and TPB 8 is likely to become harder to find sooner, I'd start with TPB 8 and move onto 11 and 12 later on.

Start with the original Marvel run. Always the Marvel run. The new stuff is fine, but I think there is just too much of it. From what I've read of it, it seems pretty separate. None of the new titles seem to overlap any of the others.

Well my vol 2 of Origins started falling out page by page only after two days of having it from my comic shop. Tried to fix it with some super glue. See how that goes.

Seems to be working. I'll just pick up another copy of it sometime.

Storm,
Just wanted to thank you.
