Not a custom per se, but I did build it.

I have never built anything before, so I am fairly pleased with the way this turned out. I wanted to buy my son an '83 HQ, but thought they were too expensive. By the time we put this together I could have bought one

The base is a piece of MDF shelving that I found in the garbage, it is 27" x 19". The walls are 1/4" oak plywood that I was left when they redid the cupboards in my old house. Most of the furnishings are from Marauder, tho the shop equipment came from ebay and I made the shelving in the armory. Stickers from Rick McMasters, the caution signs I printed from the OSHA website. the CC and Destro wanted posters I made from an online sign generator and the map is a scan from the marvel comics.

The top with the searchlights and antenna is removable, and as you can see from the pics, so are the corner defense platforms. The jail door opens too.

thanks, we had a lot of fun drawing it out, ordering from marauder, and sorting through boxes of junk. I wanted to put duke in the infirmary and have him in a coma instead of Cross Country, but my son wouldnt have it.

If i would have had that as a kid, it would have brought me a few years worth of happiness. I froze for a bit, imagining it....

I think Covergirl working in the garage is my favorite part. In some of the pics you can see Steamroller manning the floor jack too.

I love it. It's wonderfully made. A lot of what you've put together looks just like the plans for my own PIT headquarters. I've got a lot of the same Marauder gear just waiting for me to have the time to put it all together. You've also given me a lot of great ideas I hope you don't mind if I steal.

You're right about the costs too. I was hesitating on buying an '83 Headquarters because of the price and already spent about $50 on Marauder alone. Now I just have to figure out the best way to build a computer and communications area.

Steal away.

I was completely stumped on the computer set up even after I found the lap tops. I do think the stickers from the original HQ help tho.

As for the cost, I figured that at least this way he could still use some of the stuff with his star wars or Justice League.

Cool playset pal. You are a great dad.

If you were going to expand it I would like to see a mini motor pool garage to store the vehicles and maybe a large cannon sort of thing that resembles that from the 1983 HQ playset. It's your choice.

I was thinking of scavenging parts like the computer console from the original HQ, and some of the computer banks from the Terrordrome if I can find them on eBay. Someone here once posted an incredible site where you could buy plans for paper backdrops. I remember they had an amazing Cobra Communication center with three consoles and chairs that would work perfect. I just can't remember the site.

Looks cool, but I am wondering about how wise it would be to put the holding cell (jail) right next to the intelligence room?

OUTSTANDING!!!!! great job on your HQ. I always wanted the 83 HQ as a child, but this one is much better. Your a good dad to take the time to plan and build this. Hope you and your son enjoyed building it together.

I found the site http://www.diodrama.co.uk/ and ordered the Cobra Communications center and Bat set. You can't beat the $3 price. If it works, I'll take pictures.

That is probably the coolest thing i have seen in a long time. Great use of materials which might otherwise have been discarded. And it looks like hours of fun for you and your son. You have just inspired me and my father in law to make a base for my son...Thanks for the pics...

For the most part. The 25ths don't seem to get along with the folding chairs tho.

I just used stuff lying around or from the trash. With all the fun we had and the props we received, we have another one in the works. As soon as it's done, I will post it here.

I know sleeping next to the garage sucks, just like the jail being next to the command room isn't ideal. But what can you do when you are working off of low bids.

I just put a bunch of graphics on my site that you can download and use in your diorama. I think you might be able to use the control center ones? I've got some cool monitors and stuff.

I'm also adding some more that other members have donated.

And their free.
