There was a time when I loved Frank & Sons. It was the best place to find those "rare" figures I couldn't locate anywhere else. You could also bargain from one shop owner to another to find the best deals.

Now it's full of people who are just about stealing the figures out from under us. They grab all the clonetroopers and exclusive figures up and try to sell them at prices that would make eBay blush. I'm sure they're doing the same with GI Joe now. And don't even try to make a deal. They no longer budge.

You're right but there's one booth that sells all joes for 8 bucks each. That's probably the best deals i've seen there. Others are selling Wave 5 for 10-15 bucks! The Destro IG is going for 15 over there. It's crazy. I don't buy joes over there anymore. I'd rather take my chances at the stores.

Southern Cali. what your opinion of franks and sons .. you think you could get good deals or is it just as bad as Ebay..

It depends on who you talk to and if they're willing to budge on price. I was able to get a Gold Destro for $50, S.E. w/ Black Timber for $13, had a chance to score some Flints for $10 when they were going for $30 on e-bay a few months back but some dude came in and snagged all he had.

You pretty much pay e-bay prices or a little less w/o tax and shipping, so it kinda works out well if you work out the price.

Most Joes go for $7-$15 and forget the McQuarrie figures, they're up in the $15-$20 range..

I go there to window shop and see the stuff that i can't find in stores (Transformers Masterpiece, Encore, etc) up close to decide if i'll buy them online or there and to also laugh at the prices they set the figures at, especially ones that you can buy retail at the store. $25 for a Bumblebee??? yeah, right!

So... it has it's advantages and disadvantages. It's a nice place to visit at least once a month or every other month depending on what's been released.

All the Targets I've been to seem to be flooded with Wave 1 comic packs. I hope they're not waiting until all those Duke/CC SE/SS sets sell out before putting out the next wave.

Nope which is why i keep searching WM, since that's where they've been spotted. I have a Dreadnok pack, and need Destro and Breaker along with another set to keep sealed.

I agree with you ShadowV It's a good place to go once a month just to see whats out there... there's only one booth I usually buy from he's in the corners and I believed he owns a toy store up in bakerfield. he's prices aren't that bad.. althought I still will not pay over $10 to anyone out there.. and yes they are some straight crooks up in there..(with there prices)

Quite a few people have gotten wave 2. (including me)

I got my packs on my way to Morrow Bay during the hollidays.. just got lucky i guess

I was lucky to find the Dreadnok pack at Azusa WM about 3 weeks ago, and got hooked up with the Breaker set form another local board member. so, they were out there, and I expect them to reappear after WM resets.

Target Woodland Hills (On Ventura Blvd.) had a full set of wave 4. I took the Air Trooper and left the rest; also picked up a Mc Concept Han Solo.

All and all, a decent haul.

It's probably because of websites like this. It's such a great source of information that when a pin drops.. we hear about it.

So when items trickle a bit.. or a store accidentally releases an item too early (like with those stores that don't even register a price for wave 5) .. we hope that it's a mass release and run to the stores..

and I'd say 99% of the time.. we find nothing for weeks..

Even Cataclizm found wave 5 in mahatten beach.. and still we find nothing..

wave 2 comics aren't even suppose to be out yet. Walmart is just evil lol..

Good find on the CGs on ebay. I've never been so lucky. I don't even habe my first CG yet..

srry for the late post, but i found both anchor and non anchor belt variant shipwrecks at tanforan yesterday.

there was only one non anchor belt.

serramonte, colma, and tanforan had comic packs. lots...

on a side note, i found nightwatch optimus prime leader, and two voyagers, " first strike optimus" and " off road ironhide " .

serramonte had three of the new all spark deluxes, and colma had the legends 2 pack battles.

all had the new movie scenes...

i hit walmart mountain view late at around 4:30 pm. they had a huge center piece of everything from 2007. only one really messed up off road ironhide.

walmart union city didnt even stock last night. whack...

saw the new modular for the 25th joes. only 4 pegs for single packs.

Early reports were in that they are stocking wave 4 & 5. I'm complete with all my sets and would like to get more snow jobs and crimson guards. I think this weekend would be a good time to check all stores.

He kept saying he wasn't going to ring the joes up for "you again"... cause they wouldn't register and I told him they were 5.99

Only problem is.. I didn't buy joes "again".. lol...

so he made me go to customer service so someone could check to see if the friggin joes were 5.99. I guess he had regrets trusting the first customer.. and probably thought we were trying to rip him off!

Then the register wouldn't take my card.. i had to hand over my card..

What a night.. I go out to buy someone joes.. and some dude comes to talk to me while i'm finding joes.. starts to ask me if i like joes.. do i remember cobra commander... do i like anime.. what's my favorite anime.. and all this time.. just talking to me..

then the thing at the register.. what a night.. and it SUCKS cause all of the air troopers were bought.. and I couldn't even find him one..

All left on pegs are just Buzzer, a lot of Shipwreck and Stalker. Wave 1 comic packs are still there. Oh, and like others...when to ring them up and nada. But I had the Cobra the Enemy there for them to get pricing.

Big Lots (Blackstone, Fresno) - 3 packs of Valor vs. Venom (Scarlett, Roadblock and Hi-Tech 2 packs) for $6.

Target (Shaw -Fresno) - Wave 1 comic packs, a lot of hooded Cobra Commanders and Shipwrecks.

TRU (Fresno) - I could not find pegs for the 25th Anniversary. All they had was the GI Joe 5-pack and 3 Inferno Sigma 6.

Well after comic con, i got my 1st McQuarrie figure.. decided i'll only collect those.. then the Expanded Universe figures came out (Anakin, Grevious, Maven, Malek, etc) and they looked cool. Then i got the gold coins... it just started to add up. I have to stop it somewhere, so hopefully i can do that, but looking at some of the new figures coming out, they look sick... might spend just few more dollars.

You should have tried the Chino Hills Wal-mart this weekend. As I posted before, I went there to go grocery shopping only to find the pegs FILLED with all of Waves 4 and 5. Went to the Panorama City and Porter Ranch Wal-Marts last night and bought a bunch of Wave 4 and 5 figures as they were putting the stock out. Hadn't been able to find too many of them until last night. We literally picked up two Hasbro boxes full and bought them.

Also, the Wave 1 Comic packs they received last night had a new 'Explosive' sticker on the package stating 'Comic Book Included' or something like that. The ones we purchased at local Los Angeles Targets a couple of weeks ago didn't have those. :( Not sure if this is something new or not.

I'll take my cam with me to a couple other local Wal-Marts and see if they are there as well.

Just stopped by a local Target and they had all the Wave 4 figures there. Lots of Dukes, Scarletts, Roadblock, Gung Ho, and Cobra Commanders. No Snake Eyes, Destros or Storm Shadows though. :(

I guess the west coast really got some shipments over the last few days.

The Wave 1 Comic books didn't have the 'Comic Book' explosion sticker on the front of these packages. Not sure if it's a Wal-Mart thing, or something new they added to the newly shipped comic book packs. I'm gonna check another Wal-Mart later for additional figures and I'll see if they are there as well.

I got to the Panorama City Store 5 minutes before they closed last night. So, they had to have been there before me, and before they put the stock out. That's when I got them. The boxes had been opened and they were about to put them out. That's when I bought them. They were all figures I needed, and hadn't been able to find them either. I've been looking since December. So, I had to grab what I needed. I'm sure they'll get more. They only had 2 boxes and there were 8 racks. So, surely they are expecting more if they have that many racks.

Oh, and I took the actual physical Hasbro shipping boxes too, so that had to be someone else who emptied boxes out before I got there all together. :(

They had 8 comic book packs when I left too.

They get in shipments everday too. So, tell them to keep checking back!

The Strom Shadow ver2 was found all by himself at Walmart:Porter Ranch the card was thrashed I think it got runned over by a pallet jack. I just left the Sepulveda/Burbank store and they had a chunk of the Wave 4/5 figures, but it looks like you bought all the duplicates of the ones I needed. :( I needed a Destro, StormShadow and AirTrooper. This is more of a central California sighting (Fresno). I went to wal-mart today and they had no single figures a few comic pack wave 1's. I was disapointed and when I saw a worker in they toy section, I let them know. To my surprise he went in the back and brought out a case of comic pack wave 2! Yep, so far.... if you find either of those it's a pretty safe assumption wave 5 was there, especially if you find the no anchor belt buckle on Shipwreck.

Oh man...Fresno, Tulare and Kings are competitive...but since you are in the Fresno area, you have to deal with crapheads who damage the cards. Especially at the Target in Riverpark. Ughh...

I haven't seen the two packs since the day after New Year's and didn't buy it at Wal-Mart because someone folded the top of the packs over here. Ended up ordering from eBay.

But which Wal-Mart did you go to? The one on Shaw or the one that is near Nees?

As for competition...I know there are many GI Joe collectors in the area. From what I hear, people who call in everyday asking for the Dreadnok two-pack.

In my area, lot of the Navy folk in Kings County collect the 25th Anniversary ones.

The river park Target is usually picked over. I went to the Wal-Mart on N. Ingram which is close to the river park area. I have been able to find one of everything minus variations. I would like to get a extra of a few items when I see them. However, like many others I don't usually get what I want until it's been out a month.

Hi Tennyson,

I don't hunt that much, I buy online now. I used to go every week and start with the Target on Clovis, then TRU in Clovis, Wal-Mart on Shaw,and make it way into the Target stores on Blackstone, Riverpark, the WM you go to, then back to Shaw further West to Target and end at TRU Fresno. So, I used to hit a lot of the stores but no longer do that anymore.

I do know that the best place to find stuff is the Wal-Mart near Kings Canyon but I don't go to that area of Fresno.

It's cool that you are able to find one of each, usually they are gone or cards are ruined by the time I get there.

(deja vu with Justice League Unlimited stuff.... my Target and even KM has not gotten rid of those old orange carded 3-packs from 2006 and thus were never able to get in new ones).

Same here in AZ. The Wave 2 comic-packs are completely gone everywhere I've looked lately. And trust me, that's quite a few places. :-)

Even the Wave 1 packs are selly okay. I think part of it may be Joe fans showing up looking for Wave 4 and 5, and after the discouragement of not finding them at store number 6, decide to buy another comic pack instead. After all, one more redemption sticker and more customs fodder is better than nothing time after time. At least that's what I figure the logic may be.

Thankfully I've never had a fellow shopper be so brazen. And the clerks know better, as I'd have them written up so fast their paychecks would dwindle even more as they spin in reverse. Yes, tough-talk, and blah-blah-blah, but I don't often say I'll do something and not do it.

Yeah, my friends always find stuff at that Wal-Mart. When I go up there, I used to go through Clovis Shaw then make it up to Blackstone and back to Shaw again. But rarely do that now. Ended up buying the comic packs for Breaker and Dreadnoks for $14.99 and with shipping at $40. So, a bit pricey but called my local Target and a guy who works and collects them said that with the 2-packs pegs still full of the first wave, they can't replace them yet. So, had to bite the bullet.

But since you work near the one near Kings Canyon, hopefully you'll score over there.

I've only seen Wave 4 once in this area, and that was a couple weeks ago. I already had the 2 box sets so left them all. I felt lucky to see them since normally its just empty pegs. When there is stock its usually still Wave 3.

I don't think they'll oppose on the idea.. It all depends on if they have any left and how well they sell. I was also toying with the fact of selling/trading the extra redemtion certificiate w/ stickers i'll have once wave 3 comes out. Just like e-bay, there may be some people who don't want the comic packs and would like to obtain the DOC figure. It may be a hard pitch to the dealer but, you never know.

i remember when wave 2 & wave 3 came out, they were like out briefly. and then the whole month of January, i pretty much noticed the constant supply of wave 2 & 3. it's like a lot of stores are now carrying it, and the increase of cases they put up on the pegs.

i'm beginning to notice, more of these will come later. and hopefully wave 4 & wave 5 will be around like what i'm seeing right now with wave 2 & 3.

Not to lessen the validity of what you've said, but we've heard this sort of thing from WM employees before- recently. Personally, I just wait for stock to show up, and don't really believe any of what the employees tell me. 90% of the time it ends up being bunk, which can be disappointing if you start to count on it.

that's how I feel. had to go to Target with the wife tonight and found the new wave 3/2 revision, which I saw the other night at Wal Mart as well, so I will sit tight while Hasbro hopefully stockpiles the newer waves for a mass release.

Just went to the TRU and found 2 sets of Wave 5, thanks godness, as I was missing a Carded IG Destro, and SE V1, also grabbed some CGs and another Flash, as mine had some minor paint issues on his nose....now I have a good one...(if anyone wants him pm, I will sell at cost, plus shipping.). This was in the Lower Los Angeles Area...PM for details.....

O ywah almost forgot to mention, as I was walking in, a dreaded dude was wakling in front of us, and immediatly I thought he wants my Joes, but he was distracted and quickly turned right, so I was like ok, I am safe, I ran to the Joe asle and got my joes, and left a SE, IG Destro, SJ, FLASH, and the rest...then the dreaded dude swoops in and fnds nothing, great right, well I was in the next isle with my son, and could here what sounded like tearing of the packages....so I bolt over and can see, that he has them laid on the shelf....and I pretend to look at something else.....he looks suspicies, and puts everything on the shelf back on the pegs and leaves....I go and check, and no IG Destro nor SE....I find my wife to tell her, and as we are checking out, I see the guy leaving and not pay for nothing.... So I run back and check to see if the joes were put back and NO..... I think this SCUM ripped the joes out and stole the joes.... I tried looking for the packaging (with my wife helping) but we could not find anything, and we could not report it...but it made us (her becuase she know what hell I put her through to go hunting for these guys) fell crappy and angry that this guys just ripped off Joes.....ok I am done ranting.....

nothing but wave 3 and 1 wave 1 cobra officer. The single zartan had the "color change" emblem on it but it wasn't a sticker, it was printed on the card. This was a variant(?) I wasn't aware of. As tired as I am of wave 3 at least its cool to see some joes on the peg.
