View Full Version : L.R.R.P. 6 figure Battlepack

Here is my next set of figures.
It is the Long Range Recon Patrol from the GI Joe Comics.
It includes:
Lonzo Wilkinson (Stalker)
Snake Eyes (Has binoculars on a neck strap)
Tommy Arashikage (Storm Shadow) (Has a removable towel around his neck. Comes with quiver of arrows and bow)
Wade Collins
Ramon Escobedo
Dickie Saperstien

I used Marvel issues #26 and #155 as inspiration to see what they carried and what they wore.
I created a Battle Pack to showcase the figures. They look wierd in the packaging because I tried to apply a plastic covering look to them.
On the battlepack picture you can see it mentions a mail away figure. I will post that when I finish it.

And below are some fun shots.
If you want to see a bigger version of the picture below click here:

fantastic job my friend...they ALL look great...

I know, shoo.. jk, Thanks

I would buy two of those at least......those kick major butt!!

How long did they take you to make?
I would say several weeks. Lots of molding for pockets on the pant legs. Hard part was just finding the accessories and heads that I wanted to use. Marauders helped with some of the weapons and the web belts and the grenades. Alyosha helped with a few heads. I just finished up the last one the other day after not working on them for a while.

Very Nice job!! Ya beat me to the completion though. I had this in the works after I finished my SE v0 a while back.

I remember when you posted that and someone suggested it and the thought of doing it sparked my interest and I went crazy with it trying to make them as accurate as I could. If you want any help let me know, I can at least let you know what parts or heads I used.

Seriously guys, thanks for all the comments. Do you guys think putting the Tommy Arashikage figure into the custom contest would be worth it?

Hmm... I think I will go back and make a box for the mission brazil set I did earlier this year. No sets beyond the ones I have made at this point. Well, thats not true, I may do a movie pack. The animated movie that is.

Incredible work! That would be a killer set to have for sure. My only critique is the head you chose for Tommy, there's something off about it to me. I think a Scalpel (http://www.yojoe.com/action/03/images/scalpel_large.shtml) head would work if you could find one. Awesome work, keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had trouble finding a head I wanted but that one doesnt look too bad. Here is what I went with.

I used a power team elite figure for the hat. I had to dremel the head out. It is the same head I used on Dickie but I left the hat on Dickie, and I molded some glasses on him.

I've said it before, but you've put together a picture perfect set. Now how do we get Hasbro to see just how much we want them to make this set following your directions?

hectorxd
06-13-2008, 03:13 PM
I dont know. Hopefully it being front paged might catch someones eye at Hasbro as Im sure at least a few of the design or people on the joe team must check out the forums from time to time.
I would buy a set in a heartbeat.

Now I'm kinda depressed, at least as much as one could or should get over plastic toys. When I first looked at the thread I went straight for the photos and everything looked so amazing and official I thought Hasbro had really struck gold with hard core fans.

Then.........

I read the word "custom" in the description and, well.....

Heck, we should make this a Hisstank anniversary set just like cobra island did for theres. Of course I do not know when the tank has an anniversary but we should. Get a group of guys together to help make the stuff and the tank puts up a pre-order for x amount and vala! An instant classic. What do you guys think?

Great job!

hectorxd
06-13-2008, 07:27 PM
It was a lot of work involved with this.

Speaking of that, it would be cool to have a Hisstank repaint using the new tanks either from target or the regular issue.
Maybe just have the black one with some red trim like the forum itself and have a sticker on the back or something about Hisstank.com anniverary.. I dont know...

Or the little helicopter at TRU. I think its the Little bird or something. Comes with 2 figs and a parachute. That would make a cool repaint for Hisstank.com

that has got to be the coolest thing i seen all day. Hey HASBRO if your seeing this, that is what i want from you. their is just so many good characters from the books that never had a figure that need one. If you can do it for star wars it can be done for gijoe.

Man that set rocks!!! I have wanted those figures since back in issue #26. I think hasbro got the ball rolling with the three pack now if they could just finish the job. The figures would look so good they would have crossover appeal. That means sale legs.
