Very cool episode. Really liked shipwreck! Tecno viper was pretty cool as well. Uss flagg was a sweet nod. Shipwreck actually worked for cobra before was interesting.

Well we already got Ripcord, Frostberg, and the Cobra Scientist. And if Bazooka shows up before the end, thats gonna be 1 more.

Really disappointed in Shipwreck. I think Shore Leave from the Venture Brothers is going to have to be my updated Shipwreck. Heck even Quagmire from Family Guy would fit my expectations better.
I don't know I guess I just need a bit more flair to Shipwreck. If they wouldn't have used his name I would have guessed the character was Cutter instead of Shipwreck.
Some nice nods to other series though so I was happy with the episode.

Man... a disappointing lack of chatter about Renegades here tonight. :(
Here's a review of tonight's episode! Video clips, the whole nine yards:

I don't want Renegades to end with a whimper...

thanks. I will definitly read your review(nobody does them better) but I have just moved on from Renegades. It's so hard for me to get involved knowing that it's dead in the water.

Im not sayin that it sounds like Wolverine, just that he has that low gravelly ton like Steve Blum, or even Clint Eastwood talks in. To me anyway, someone else might hear it different.

One other thing about the Techno Viper, not only did it look like a Metroid Boss (as someone else pointed out) It looked like an alien from MIB:TAS as well.

Yeah, at some point that actually became true for me... Maybe because I was hugely into VB before my late introduction to the world o' Joe... Or maybe because I enjoy shouting Boom! Yummy!...
Still and all, though, we got a Cover Girl reference and saw the Flagg, not to mention a call back to the Fire Fight ep., so on the whole I really enjoyed it, even if Shipwreck didn't feel as Shipwreck-y as I would've liked...
Plus, I love RB's epic romance with the Coyote and his back-and-forth snark with TR.

I knew it was going to go on hiatus while they finish the second movie, but I wasn't aware that they cancelled it! Is there an official statement on the cancellation? Are the toys still coming out?

One issue I've had previously and it has grown but looks like it might somewhat be abated is how we get introduced ARAH-influenced characters each week ... and then they fade into obscurity. At least appear Shipwreck will at least have a peripheral appearance next week. At this point, it might be nice NOT to have a new character added so the main players can develop together. More importantly, it might allow the STORY to develop. This episode really only did one thing - moved the Joes from the US to Scotland. It introduced the arctic Cobra trooper and the Techno-Viper - which makes NO SENSE due to the Techno-Viper toy coming out soon that bares no relation (isn't it via the Renegades line?) - but didn't reveal anything new about Cobra that we didn't know, ie. they are playing with nanites and organic vipers. If Shipwreck doesn't join the team, it really was a fruitless - but enjoyable - adventure. Why not just have them find evidence of Cobra activity in Scotland, hire Shipwreck to take them to on his ship, and - wallah! - you could combine 2 episodes.
I freely admit that they have been doing a good job of weaving Cobras in and out of the storyline - just when I think it was just a small bit role for SS or Destro or Mindbender. I kind of wish they did more of this with the Joes they meet on the road.

i still havent seen the episode, i hope he was at least funny and cool. i did hear his voice though.

The way I see it is a story-telling mode. You introduce these characters, then pull them all in. You create a little back story for them as the story progresses not introduce the entire team then try develop the personalities of a a large team.
In my mind, the way I see it developing is the writers are introducing all of these "used-to-be" Joes through the story they are telling right now. I still see the Joes being pardoned and forming a Duke-led, government-funded, 1985 flashback-causing, GI Joe team with people they have met, the cameos we've seen since the first few episodes.

I liked Shipwreck better in Renegades than I ever did in ARAH. As soon as he said "Courtney" and I saw that poster, I knew it was Krieger. That was cool. I also knew that when they spotted that carrier that it would be the Flagg. That was a neat throwback also. Overall good episode. The only real problem I had with it was using that net to pull the coyote back onto the ship. That wreaked of the Sunbow cartoon (using a net to catch the space shuttle in Pyramid of Darkness).

was Moon a reference to anyone from the comics? The name sounds familiar....
I love the cobra guards at the beginning (both design and dialogue) as well as the vehicles they drive later!

I wondered the same thing about Moon.
And I liked how the dialogue between the Cobra soldiers pointed back to earlier episodes. For some reason, the vehicles they drove later reminded me of the Cobra Wolf from 1987.

at first I thought Moon was a reference to the captain who got the joes to cobra island in the comics and was later buried in the freighter, but that was Minh. :/

I really didn't care for this episode beyond the fan nods with the Flagg and Krieger. I thought Shipwreck's voice sounded way to much like Zartan's and his personality was kinda boring. I'm finding that I seem to really like the episodes that don't contain the jelly vipers and lose interest whenever the gooey villains are brought in. I agree with others that have already posted though that this is definitely a prelude of things to come for the Joe Team. It's pretty cool how they are meeting the different characters in situations that show what they are made of and when the time comes they have reasons behind their choices of a certain fireman, k-9 unit or sailor etc...

The nod I'm shocked they missed was they had a great set up for a nod to Jaws but missed it. You've got the Viper hanging off the back of the boat with it's mouth open, Shipwreck has the fire extinguisher which is shaped a bit like a scuba tank, and yet they missed pulling the Jaws nod.
Heck if Shipwreck is going to be all gruff now instead of a fun character he could have at least used some the captain's lines from Jaws.
Or at least my guess is that this Shipwreck is based on the character Sam Quint from Jaws.

I have to say for the most part...I'm not feeling the "NEW" G.I. Joe. The nods are getting tedious...almost as if they want you to watch the entire show just to see what might cameo and the "Guest Stars" are a pale imitation of who they really are. Although while I think there are some interesting twist on a few things...they went to far out of their way to make it "new" and "fresh"...Cobra Industries instead of Arbco Industries backed by Extensive Enterprises...maybe even make that CO a partner or subsidiary instead of Brothers of Light...I mean c'mon. The beginning sounds like the A-Team...........as far as it be3ing a kids cartoon and death...you can still do that without showing it. I don't know why everyone is into the new cartoon and the movie...they could be so much better...there have been a few decent episodes but most of it has been fodder as far as I am concerned. Transformers Prime is waaay better and I'm not a Transformer Guy either. Renegades isn't a series I'll buy on DvD either. Plus....Snake Eyes....I like him a little more Commando with Ninja abilities and training as apposed to Super Ninja all the time.....yeah, I said it.

I wasn't feeling the new Shipwreck. He is just too far from the original. I liked the original, sure he was a little over the top and could be annoying at times but he was fun and entertaining. This guy was just……...boring. And the catching of the Coyote in the net at the end was a face palm moment for sure. The nods were cool but I’m starting to get sick of just nods and Easter eggs when instead we could have the real thing.
I like this cartoon and have enjoyed the ride but think it could have been done much different with a much better outcome pleasing both fans and kids. If I could just place how I see it in my head into a cartoon.......man it would be awesome!!! They don't have technology for transporting ideas in one’s head into a cartoon yet do they?
Anyways, I am very sad about this toon being canceled because it has a lot of potential and could have done wonders for this brand that Hasbro is trying so hard to bring back to life.

So,
Will Shipwreck be a recurring character?

I was totally expecting a completely non-cobra episode but the soldiers at the beginning really made me smile.
I can't wait for next week and I REALLY can't wait for the two episodes after that which pretty much guarantee cobra soldiers.

cool episode, getting a little bored with the whole bio-viper, techno-viper etc, but still liked it! I liked the portrayal of shipwreck and how he is taking the joes to Scotland for next weeks episode.

10. Keep posts in the appropriate forum. For example, don't post a topic about the toys you bought this morning in General Discussion, that sort of thing.

I liked Shipwreck's remark about going past the international dateline so many times that he ended up 2 years younger than when he first started, it made me chuckle. That's the only thing about him I found funny, however. Hopefully he'll be a little less gruff and pissed off as the series goes on. Nice to see he's gonna be a recurring character, though.

Wow, I don't normally like Cover Girl, but for a cartoon, she's pretty sexy. I like how she's who Shipwreck's boat is named after, they had something going on in the comics, right? Nice to see the FLAGG, and Shipwreck seemed grumpy and a witty enough to satisfy my expectations. The way Scarlett talked about the Techno-viper made it seem like if we ever see another, it will be a human one.

I saw part this episode last night and the rest of it this morning. This Shipwreck was just a bit too serious for me, but he's line "Just because we're friends doesn't mean I give you a discount " gave me a glimpse of a Shippy that I remember. Probably needs a Polly now that "Moon" is done . This episode was a bit of a rehash with Techno-Bio Viper but I wouldn't mine seeing the real "Courtney" in a future episode.

It might just be me reading to much into things, but naming a random sailor "Moon" might have been a throwaway reference to another series entirely.

I really enjoyed this episode and Shipwreck. I was very disappointed that he wasn't a permanent member of the team in the next episode. That would have been cool.
