sorry, computer problems

i just wanted to ask anyone out there if they make their quick check at wally world through the back of the store near the auto dept. in my area at least, it seems like the toys are near the auto sections of the store. i have been checking a lot lately on the way to and from work and the same dude sees me coming outta there every day. i'm starting to think they think i some total weirdo, i go in and i'm out in 30 seconds, twice a day. nothing, nothing, for five straight weeks. i think i'm done, otherwise i think i might be arrested for just being predictable.

Thats funny. Start waving to the guy, it might freak him out.

I think that they might start getting paranoid that you're a robber planning on sticking up the store, or part of a group planning on robbing the store.

And you're in charge of finding the fastest way of entering and leaving the store.

But that's only if the auto-people even care.

Hey A.V.A.C.! That sounds just like my story! I go before work and most of the days after work. Most visits take a minute or less. I actually hope someone asks me just so I can say I'm there looking for toys!

I would be more worried that he is paying attention to you....like he's checking you out or something. Find a new Walmart to strut your stuff. lol

AVAC, you are not alone. I often go in the auto dept. It is alot faster than dealing with the slower people you encounter when you enter the front of the store. Sometimes i wonder if they are lost. They walk in looking left and right and they never decide on which way to go. lol. Anyway, the easiest path to the joe figures is through the auto dept...

I do the exact same thing, except it's a dudette at the auto section counter. (which is kinda embarrassing when I actually find new figures.)

Man, I used to be self concious like that at El Pollo Loco (fast food chicken joint). I used to go everyday and get the same thing....once they started calling me by name...or had my order waiting for me before I got there.....I started going to a different one...and then repeated the same process.

What can I say? Im a creature of habit! :)

Start a Rotation of Stores that you check every other day or so, thats what I would do!

I'm a creature of habit also. On Fridays after my two Wal-Mart stops, I eat at a Jack in the Box located in front of my local Target's parking lot while waiting for Target to open. They know me so well that they start cooking my order when they see my car pull in and I don't even have to speak to the cashier, I just hand them my money.

i guess i failed to mention that this pathway i take to work takes me through SEVERAL stores. they are all getting to know me in a 30 second kind of way, and i feel guilty. maybe i should buy a steering wheel cover or a qt of oil. i can just hear them as i walk in. "hey, here's that guy who comes in looking for toys, hey dude, don't bother, destro an' breaker r still hangin an' nutin' else, get lost ya' gaylord!

gawd, i hate this city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do the same thing, but it's through the garden section. About the only store here that actually has an auto section is seperate from the main building so it might be a little odd to try to go through that :)

But yeah, I'm starting to reconise a lot of faces at wally world now.....and I think they reconise me (I know one definately does, she always stops me and talks to me on my way to toys on stock day)

The Garden Center is quicker for me and I see the same woman everyday.......she waves at me and always says "Hello"....I Finally told her what I was doing......and that shes going to see me almost everyday....in and out. She said thats ok at least I get to see a cute guy almost every morning.......she also said she understood and was glad I told her because it did slightly worry her..........

HAHAHAHA! I thought I was alone on this one! I'm glad to hear there are others out there that think the same way. I always get funny looks through the Garden Center! He knows why I'm there though, because when I find stuff I check out through there. I've befriended some of them already, even the guy with the scanner that's in charge of toys. He'll see me and say, "not today, huh?" My usual reply is nope, while walking away in frustration.

Garden center for me. Here`s the question though. Do you guys shut your cars off or continue to kill your starters like me?

Back when getting the new Star Wars figures was just as hard as this ('96-'97) I used to hit my Wal-Mart at around 1 or 2 in the morning. Got to the point where the night time stockers in toys knew me and knew what I was looking for. They ended up giving me the number to they toy dept. and told me to call. They would let me know if it was worth my time to drive out there or not.

A.V.A.C.,
I do the same thing at 3 WalMarts almost daily, they ask me everyday "here for an oil change", and everyday I reply "nope, just sneaking in the back door." The worst part is that at two of the older stores they have to buzz you out so now the girls working back there just kind of roll their eyes at me as I pop in and out empty handed. A Floor Manager scanned the empty pegs for me this morning and told me that they were not expecting another shipment until June 16th.

lol thought I was alone on this too, but I go through the garden center also. I always get a funny look from the old man that greets you as you walk in and the cashier as well. Some times I just buy something so I dont leave empty handed and they dont look at me as wierd. But Target sucks cuz the toy department is always at the very back and the long walk back to the car is disapointing. They always have a security guard at the door and he always looks at me as if though waiting to tackle me down as I walk through the scaners at the door thinking I might be shoplifting or something. Then I just look back at him after I walk out and a look of disapointment comes accross his face, lol I think he is just waiting for a shoplifter to jump on. he's about 300 pounds and 7 ft tall.

I had a security guy try and search me because I go in there all the time.........and walk out empty handed (not my fault they have no stock)......I told him he better find something on me or he wont like what happens.......he then started to question why I was in there so much....and I fired back its really none of your damn business......are you going to search me I keep asking.....because I sure would love to own this store (not like that would really happen)......he let me go own my way........

What these idiots at Walmart need to relize is; NOT EVERY COLLECTOR OF TOYS IS A SCALPER! Jebus Corpse people! I get similar treatment as well, I just don't care. I usually will reply, "If you stock what they want. They will buy it." in a creepy Field of Dreams voice. Granted most of the IQ lvls of certain Walmart workers and managers can be counted on your right hand without lifting a finger, but that doesn't give them the right to discriminate. Thats exactly what this crap is discrimination. What an American buys is that American's business. I don't like scalpers either, but I show my disdain by not shopping Ebay for toys anyway. Prices sre ridiculous enough in the stores, Ebay is freakin insane. Besides, what ever happened to customer service? We collectors are customers like everyone else. Hell, my wife and I still buy our groceries at Walmart even when they don't have what I want. When I go in solely for a Joe figure and they don't have it I'm walkin' out with nuthin'. If Walmart & Target don't like it TS.

I first go to the starbucks and get myself a venti mocha frap. Then I weave my way thru the checkout area and stop at the $1 section and wave a gardening tool around like wolverine claws and say out loud "When the road warrior days come, and they are coming, this simple tool will become a priceless weapon. My God." I then put the tool back and continue on my way to the toys by going thru the bra section. I make sure to check the prices on at least 3 at the scanners then drop them on the floor. Next is the shoes. At this point I start to twirl around with my arms spread and yell "shoes! Shoes! SHOOOOES!". I do this for about a full minute. I then walk past the shoes and have made it to the baby toys and pool gear. I stop and maliciously bend the cards of pool goggles so that pool goggle collectors will be frustrated when they come in and cant find a single pool goggle moc. Ha! Screw those guys! And finally the joes isle! I let a very loud "DYNOMITE!" then proceed down the row. Transformers-check! Speed racer-check! Indy-check! G.I.Joe-1 buzzer. My heart sinks. Like a lousy step parent, target has let me down yet again. Saddened I walk slowly back to the front of the store often dragging my feet and sighing.

I like to use the auto area as well.. problem is if no one is around, you are kinda screwed and have to go back to the front since the door is locked. I need to figure out where that button is to push it.. but that may attract too much attention.

another thing it is good for is returns. nothing worse than returning a bunch of figures and having to get each one scanned/stickered by someone that is 90 years old. if you walk in through the auto door, its smooth sailing.
