As you might be able to guess, I used a Tiger Force Flint to make the good version! Though, this went south a little, after I had taken the legs off to repaint, I noticed that they were actually molded in brown, and painted green. I though, Awesome! Strip the paint and make it easier! Yeah, after using finger nail polish remover to strip paint off of several Sideshow 12" heads, I found the results were not as favorable for the plastic used on Joe thighs. They melted after about 60 seconds of acetone bath. So, here goes...
TF Flint torso, arms, head and web gear. Wave 1 Flint Legs and pistol. Shotgun from a BBI accessory set. I used the TF versions web gear as it was green with gold buckles like the original figures was, and painted the belts brown to match the original. Easy quick custom, that should have been easier and quicker!

Man that looks great. Factory fresh too.

I have no paint skillz. I can't even paint a freaking door and make it look good.

Cheers.

Great job! I definitely want to do this, too, although they'll probably release another Flint in black with the better arms. I also want to use TF Flint's arms to make a better RocknRoll, but I'm not sure which hands to use.

Now, I did forget to mention this, his arms do not seem to be 100% compatible with all the other hands. I was going to add Shipwreck's fist to his right arm for that classic File Card pose, and it would not have worked without trimming some excess off of the flange area of the hand.

And thanks for the remarks everyone!

How do you get your paint on your joints not to rub off???

I usually will paint them in really thin washes, repeatedly. More like staining them than painting. With this one, I actually used a sharpie.

That is an awesome fix for Flint. Well done Eopie!

Rit dye does work, but with his arms exposed it would dye them too. I know it's only a little bit in the upper arm that would get exposed, but more work is more work. Also, it takes longer for the dyeing process to work.

Has anyone tried cracking open the Wave 1 Flint figure to put the TF Flint arms in?
It seems like it'd be even quicker to customize since all you'd have to do is paint the shirt sleeves black instead of the whole shirt.
That was an idea I had for a proper Flint if I can get it going.

looks really good, but why not use original Flint's head?

A matter of taste, really. Both are the same sculpt, and yes, the original already had the black beret, but the TF version is molded in flestones, like the arms, and the original is molded in white and painted flesh. I liked the molded flesh tone better as it matched the arms, and for once, Hasbro actually had a nice shade of flesh....I didn't feel the need to tweek it.

Great custom Flint! I want to know which paint brand and colors did you use for repainting that TF Flint. I want to try that with a TF Flint when I get one.

I did the hand swap. I did have to trim a little off the end of the hands to get them to fit right. I was going to paint them green to match, but found that I liked the black when I tried them on. By the way, I used the hands from an extra crankcase. (Same as Shipwreck hands.)

Yup, that does look cool. I might go back and do that as well at some point.

For paints I used Tamiya flat black, flat nato brown (for the belts), Liquitex cadmium red medium hue for the patch on his beret and on his shoulders, Tamiya chrome silver also for the shoulders. For the crotch I used Tamiya Olive Green, which was too dark really...try a lighter green, and once more with the flat nato brown for the camo spots. The whole thing (except the legs, head and lower arms) was sealed with a clear acrylic sealer that was supposed to be flat, but turned out more matte than flat. Kinda like it though, as someone else in the threat mentioned, it reminds me of the vintage fig.

That looks great!

I'm just hoping Hasbro gives us that, because I'd rather have factory paint than have to do it myself & worry about joint-rub, not to mention I haven't seen TFF in stores anywhere...
