As a child I never care about Gung-Ho previously Marine Dress Blues Gung-Ho ,
Because he was just Another Warrior for Me , but with the addition of Dress Blues Gung-Ho he was
One-of-a-kind and unique , and soon become my No# 1 Sentry of all my G.I.Joe HQ

Hell yes...reminds me of my grandfather.

I actually have the 12 inch one hasbro released back in the day that i gave him before he passed away sitting in my vintage joe case.

I just hope they would do a whole new chest mold for it.

DPrime
05-24-2008, 04:37 PM
Yeah, I'm up for that.

And they could reuse the mold by doing a dress blues Leatherneck too. What other marines could they use for that?

Do the dress blues match army uniforms? (In terms of cut, I mean, not colour.) Heck, they could do a whole bunch of repaints if they wanted.

I loved the dress Gung Ho as a kid (I was shocked to learn when I got back into collecting as an adult that it wasn't a very popular figure).

big Hell Yes for me! not only that, I'd love to get at least one character from every branch in dress uniform, especially the sailors, who have the coolest uniforms:

Torpedo in Officer whites (Warrant Officer wear the same dress uniform as Commissioned Officers).

Wet Suit in Cracker Jack blues.

Shipwreck in Chief khakis.

I'd second this. A while back someone asked about other potential 5 packs and I thought something like this would be great.

Seeing as tho Gung-Ho was my favorite, and my father was a marine that fought in the Korean War I have a special place in my heart for dress Blues. I hope they make him and that his shoes have that spit shine polish that my dad passed on to me.

I liked the figure, so yes, but only after some others have been made..So yes, but not a top priority...
Didn't someone recently make a custom db Gung-Ho here?
It seemed like a decent recipe used and it turned out very good..

Hell Yeah!!! I'd love for Hasbro to make a Gung Ho in his dress blues. This figure was one of my favorites. I also hope they make the Gung Ho from the earlie 90's - I think he came with a flag & had a riped shirt. Anyway I never had the fig but always thought he looked cool.

I voted no. Not one of my favorite figs from when i was little. If it is made, i will buy it though...

Yeah I'm not desperate to see him made, but I'd definately buy it as I think it would be a cool remake :)

Crimson Rage
05-25-2008, 07:59 AM
"No" from me. He doesn't really serve any practical purpose as a figure unless every other character gets a 'dress' version too.
But, as others have said, I would buy him if he turned up (but probably keep him carded)

Ooh, no thanks. As a Navy man myself it would annoy me to no end if they tried using that as a Navy uniform, as they use a double-breasted jacket. Although I suppose it would probably work as high collar whites... Yeah, I could dig that.

I'd still like to see a Navy dress blues uniform mold, but it'd have to be done properly.

Yes, I like this version of Gung-Ho.

Amberbratt
05-25-2008, 07:56 PM
I will accept it only if your promise to reuse the cobra commander
legs from the various incarnations HOODED/SILVER MASK ect :)

well we would need a new right thigh but we would swing it because we could use the arms from the crimson guard.

05-26-2008, 04:36 PM
Nah.. It was a nice figure, but it never really had a purpose in my collection. He was the figure always left out of battles. The figure was kinda boring. I wouldn't buy this figure like I wouldn't buy the twins in their business suits or the SDCC CC.

vadersquest
05-26-2008, 05:03 PM
This one would be cool if it was done in a 3 pack, but I personlay would not want one on single card due to the massive amount of figures I would rather have.

I vote "Hell Yes" on this one. I never had Dress Blues Gung-Ho, but always wanted him because of a certain recurring game I'd play with my G.I. Joes: Cobra would try to capture/kidnap the President of the United States, who was guarded by marines in dress blues. Guess I must've seen some news footage of the president getting off Marine One, flanked by USMC in dress uniforms (Yes, I was a weird kid!) but in my world, the secret service didn't exist. Cobra and the Joes would play "capture the flag" over the president and his USMC security detail. I always felt it unfair that Hasbro made the Cobra Commander-in-Chief, but not the Joe Commander-in-Chief. I thought an action figure of the President of the United States would've somehow been the ultimate, highest-ranking G.I. Joe ever. I was a strange kid I tell you! But I would've loved a 3-pack of two USMC guards in dress blues with some old man in a suit to stand guard over. Instead, I had to make due with some random Star Wars figures who looked vaguely right for the part. But oh, the mighty battles that still managed to ensue!

sailors have the coolest uniforms?! wow... thanks? i guess?
we sailors all hate the uniforms. i even had a marine ask me while i was in africa, "hey man, how many uniforms do you all have? like seven? i see you guys in all kinds of crazy stuff..."
and we are actually getting rid of a few and going for a new "service uniform"
its for everyone e-1 to 0-6 IIRC.
would replace the working white/blue and its year round. khaki top with black slacks.
i dont like it but its better to have one than two.
we are also getting rid of the utilities (modern dungarees) in favor of "navy" camoflauge uniforms. they will have different shades of grey, kinda like urban, and a bit of dark blue. kinda neat. good riddance to utilities. they suck. ever since the old dungarees went bye-bye, we hated the utilities.

now, as for gung-ho...
YO $%&#ING JOE!
give him the full dress uniform. marines have the sharpest damn uniform of any branch, and its not just the look but the pride you can see pouring from any marine in that uniform. i have a ton of respect for any marine, active or prior (once a marine, always a marine). i grew up in oceanside, just south of camp pendalton, so i was always around marines and thier families. and being in the navy, they are like brothers to me.

i would absolutely love a modern version of dress gung ho.
much more manly than his "blue oyster" uniform. (watch police academy and that will make sense)

to all the devil dogs out there...
SEMPER FIDELIS!!!!!!!!!

Last time I checked there are 4 branches in the Department Of Defense Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine (which falls under the Department Of the Navy). If you are referring to the Coast Guard they fall under the Department Of Transportation. I mean no disrespect to my sister branches. We all have the same goal

As I stated before I am not crazy about Gung-Ho in dress Uniform but I would cave into a battle pack with different Joes in their perspective branch dress uniforms.

What the hell does that have to do with GI Joe??? What we need is more robots, space ships & laser guns!!! And Cobra should take over the universe using a big ball that can destroy planets.

I had this one, but i could never play with him because i never had any other figures in their dress uniforms. I would love to see a senior ranking officers pack of Hawk, Gung-Ho and Ace in their Dress Uniforms, or get one for each branch of the service. A good opportunity to get officers like Flagg and Keel-Haul.

If you are referring to the Coast Guard they fall under the Department Of Transportation. I mean no disrespect to my sister branches. We all have the same goal.

"The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the United States armed forces and one of seven uniformed services. In addition to being a military branch at all times, it is unique among the armed forces in that it is also a maritime law enforcement agency (with jurisdiction both domestically and in international waters) and a federal regulatory agency. It is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security during peacetime and of the Department of the Navy at wartime."

And the US Marine Corps is a component of the Department of the Navy, but it acts operationally and administratively as a separate branch of the military.

Google is your friend. And don't ever tell a Marine he's part of the Department of the Navy. ;)

I remember the original ARAH Gung-Ho looked so cool in his dress blues... in his unopened package... on the peg... so I bought him. But his outfit didn't match with any war time scenario so I never actually played with him. LOL.

But nowadays for display purposes only, I think a Dress Blues Gung-Ho would be awesome.
