Decent ep, although I was disappointed to see Snow Job not his usual self. Timber with Snow Job makes sense, too. I like that change. One thing that was weird was that they combined Iceberg Frostbite's name. His snowboard was the same shade of green and blue as Iceberg had on his uniform. Either way, what's up with them killing all the black Joes?! First Ripcord/Static Line now Frostbite/Iceberg!! lol

Well at least we know the Twins are still alive. I wasn't so sure after their last go around. It would be cool for them to escape later on and knock Mindbender around a little bit. Oh yeah and the origin of Timber, probably as close to the original cartoon as possible. Awesome.

Great episode. Snake Eyes had quite the fight with Storm Shadow, but it didn't overshadow the rest of the episode. It's nice to Snow Job, he kinda came off as a grumpy hermit in the beginning, but by the end he was coming to be the same Snow Job we know and love. Nice that they left in the original origin of his codename from the filecard. Timber was pretty cool, too. Even if Renegades gets cancelled, I will not stop until I get a Snow Job figure.

This is the first one that I didn't watch or dvr. I just don't see the point to watch a show that was planned for 5-7 seasons and it gets axed after one. Not feeling it anymore

Come on, keep your chin up. Maybe this time they're telling the truth about it being on a hiatus. Or it's an April Fool's joke that they pulled way too early. Or maybe they'll release the rest of the series online. And besides, don't you at least want to see the finale?

Issues number 31-32, where Snake Eyes is attacked by Fred I, Destro, and Firefly in his cabin in the High Sierras. Read if you haven't yet. This episode has some pretty blunt references to it.

Yeah, something was flakey. If you remember, MSN TV initially said this episode was slated to air March 4th, but then it got pushed back and shuffled around. That shuffle makes sense now, because it was originally going to air before "Brothers of Light", but considering the Twins are in it, that would have been... strange.

I agree the people that make the show had no control over the hiatus, I am sure they are bummed too. I mean think about it they all just lost their jobs today! BUT I say we should boycott the show as a way of showing how much we want to watch it. If they see no viewers that will send a crazy sign to them, they might not read blogs but if they get no viewers they will know we mean business. Also I hope all of you going to the Con bring pitchforks and torches and give them hell for this blasphemy! ...Really wanted to see snowjob too but nope I'm done with this horse hockey!

This is probably the exact opposite of what we should do. If this show has no viewers, then what hope is there of Hasbro actually making a season 2? If the viewership suddenly rises for the last few episodes and reruns of the show have good ratings, then they'll be more likely to bring Renegades back.

Agreed! Furthermore if they make a DVD and enough people buy it that would be a good help. I would buy one if it was reasonably priced. I enjoy the show and 26 episodes is a decent number. Though it's a shame if they don't do a second season as a lot of the episodes are introductory episodes.
I wonder if the introduction and back stories of so many characters right at the beginning hurt the momentum of the show.

You know, I was pleasantly surprised at how the Shadow-Vipers were handled in this episode. It was nice to see exactly how they work in coordination with Tomax and Xamot's powers. I just hope Mindbender lets them loose enough so that they can form an escape plan. Of course, this may not happen in this season, and judging by how things are looking right now, may not happen at all.

This was a great episode. Maybe my favorite. If every episode was this good the show would be a hit.
Overall, the series has been kind of meh. But it has a lot of potential. This is the first time Cobra has felt like a real threat to the Joes and the world.

I enjoyed the episode. Not one of my very favourites, but still a lot of fun, and I liked the treatment of Snow Job-- he had a dynamic arc in terms of character development, where we saw his old self, his depressed hermit phase, and his start towards recovery. I'd like to think that, even if we never get to see it, once the Joes are cleared, he'll be re-upping so that he can be one of the first to join the all-out fight against Cobra.
Plus, Timber! Definitely one of my favourite parts of the episode.
Well, that and the flashback of Tunnel Rat sleeping in...
(the one thing that bothered me-- every single one of them should have been able to recognize a Morse code SOS. For crying out loud, it's SOS! It's not hard! But I guess they have to have a reason to have someone say it out loud for any kids in the viewing audience who weren't in the scouts or something...)

Because if the series was let go prematurely then it might turn out you're investing your time into a series and characters that may not get the resolution they would otherwise have gotten. Nobody wants to keep getting emotionally invested in a series with no ending. If Farscape didn't have The Peacekeeper Wars to close it out, there's no way I would ever recommend it to anyone. If Firefly didn't have Serenity, same deal, because you'd all this time becoming emotionally invested in these characters and never see what becomes of them.
If the first season is set up like an anime, where the season is a self-contained story with some kind of resolution at the end, but with room for future stories, then it's a little different. If it goes out on the promise of greater things, then it's just painful. Anyone remember Exo-Squad?

Don't forget Roadblock and Stalker.
I'd say they killed off Frostbite and Iceberg in one fell swoop. The black arctic trooper was Iceberg. They somehow combined the two, or just made a blatant mistake.
They're just taking liberties at this point with minor characters.
I also almost believed that Snow Job was going to become a regular in the group. That would have kicked ass since he's just about everyone's perennial favorite.
RenHoek
03-26-2011, 11:17 PM
I'm beginning to think they combined Iceberg and Frostbite together on purpose. I mean, we already need one snow trooper. Why not put the other 2 main snow troopers together into one character and kill 'em off as part of Snow Job's backstory. BAM, 2 less characters you have to introduce.

Did anyone else notice when the Joes were evading the Canadian officials, they were all being tossed around in the cab, except Snake Eyes. Cool as a cucumber. Thought that was funny.
Did you find Snow Job's and Tunnel Rat's hug at the end to be a little you know...not that there's anything wrong with it.
Snow Job does sounds a lot like blow job. Tunnel Rat. Well we all know what tunnels are for. Snow Job got real depressed over Iceburgs death and ran to live in a cabin. Maybe the were really close. Three of them appear in a flash back and two of them are in their underwear. Why are they playing strip poker? Plus Tunnel Rat over slept.
Look at Tunnel Rat sleeping. On his stomach one leg bent up out of place (for easier access). Some white colored lquid dripping from his mouth. I see the canteen but maybe Tunnel Rat spits instead of shallows.
Then Snow Job hug Tunnel Rat in the end.
"Next time we play a little poker nicky"
"No way. Last time I lost my shirt"
Tunnel Rat would need to start losing his clothes if Snow Job was gonna give him a little poke.

Not only that, but robots can't constantly regenerate, so not only would they be less of a threat, Cobra would have to keep replacing them. They'd also leave behind evidence if destroyed.

If Renegades turns your character into a black person, beware...you will be killed.
RIP Frostbite and Ripcord.
That was the only thing I didn't like about this episode. I thought it was one of my favorites. But really you kill off the the characters you change to black, how much since does that make. Frostbite and iceberg where a couple of my favorites and now they are dead. Thanks.

(the one thing that bothered me-- every single one of them should have been able to recognize a Morse code SOS. For crying out loud, it's SOS! It's not hard! But I guess they have to have a reason to have someone say it out loud for any kids in the viewing audience who weren't in the scouts or something...)
I was in the military for several years, and I was never trained on morse code. I don't know anyone who was. For communications experts, it would make sense. But not every person to ever put on a uniform should be expected to know morse code.

Yeah, but it wasn't a complex message in Morse, it was 'SOS'... I mean, if he'd sent 'look out, crazy ninja biovipers are coming', then no one should have figured it out. I failed to learn much of anything about it from Scouts in third grade or so, but I can recognize an SOS.
... why scout troop leaders think that's a worthwhile thing for third graders to learn is beyond me, actually. Busywork, I guess.

As if the slash-fic writers needed the encouragement.
I don't know, I don't see a lot of it in this fandom.
Like, any.
Granted, my siblings both pointed out how sketchy having the name 'Snow Job' sounds (and okay, I'll admit, I always think of "snowball" from Clerks and then shudder...), but I can't see their hug as being anything other than brotherly.
Of course, if 'Knockoffs' taught me anything, it's that Roadblock wants to date Tunnel Rat...
I'm sorry, I came in to point out that the Joeverse has been largely slash-free, and then that happened.
(and let no man sully the cute sleep of Tunnel Rat with orgy theories!)

This is the last thing you want to do with a show on the verge of cancellation.
I say support the franchise. Contact the Hub and Hasbro. Support the toys. Buy the DVDs.
Anyway, I thought this ep was decent.

Really liked Snow Job in this episode. If there is one thing Renegades has succeeded with, it's intensifying or re-invigorating classic characters. I like Zartan better because of his treatment in Renegades. I love this version of Destro's origin and the fact that it could be made to explain just why he worked so hard for Cobra in the old Marvel comics and Sunbow series, all the while hating Cobra Commander but feeling honor bound to serve him.

I dug this episode. The reivention of some of the characters is very creative. Even though I hate the Bio-Vipers, the way Mindbender uses the Twins to control them is awesome.
I wasn't really expecting a brooding Snow Job, but they could have easily went REAL kiddie with this and he could have been a ski instructor at a bunny slope in aspen.

I guess I missed the discussion of 16...when is it supposed to air?

I'm not happy the turn the Twins have taken. Cobra Commander has stolen their business persona and now they are just fodder for Mindbender. That is not an 'update' at all.
However, I did like Snow Job. Probably the best Joe guest star yet. His history was more substantial than others.

I have updated our Renegades page at behindthevoiceactors with pics and soundclips of almost every character that has shown up so far if anyone is interested in checking it out!
