Final round of voting for the 2008 Custom Contest has begun!

Remember the GI Joe Club.com's 25th Anniversary Custom Contest? The top three were chosen, Red Laser, Ripcord, and S.W.A.R.M. They're now up on Hasbro's Official GI Joe website and you can vote for 1st place. Voting runs from the 20th to the 30th, so you have ten days to be heard. the SWARM and Rip Cord are amazing, but I'm calling foul on Red Laser making the top three. not only wasn't it the third best custom in the contest, it was a custom many people had already done before, and heck, others have done better. seriously, a repaint?

Ripcord, should make him with actual Parachute remember back in the day with skypatrol lost a few figures to the 15 Freeway cool when your a kid bad when you just bought V1 beach head never got another Beach head till the 25th

I had to vote for ripcord because that would be the first figure of the three I would buy. Swarm is cool but I'd pass because it isn't from my own sad little joe universe.

Sorry Jin but I'm a big fan of the Red Shadows and this would be an easy repaint for Hasbro to make. So I chose Red Laser.

Some people have very strange voting criteria. No where did they say vote for the figure you'd like made. No where did they say the winner would be manufactured at all. You are supposed to vote on which "custom" was the best. Not which character you prefer. In my personal opinion the SWARM was the best of these three, but I am not a big fan of the figure or robots in general. I would never buy one, but it was very well done.

The best "craftsmanship" of the 3 is SWARM. The best "custom" of an existing character of the 3 is RIPCORD. The best complete "repaint" of an existing character is RED LASER.

...from what I read on the collector club boards, this contest turned into a fiasco with certain entries being disqualified for getting too many votes?!

I was pretty bummed that there wasn't anything more to go on than 2 pics. The Swarm is suppose to be a TARGAT crossed with a BAT. Kinda like a Sigma 6 Sky Bat.

I voted for the SWARM as well. Simply awesome!! The design, production, everything. The LED light looks very sweet. I wish I could have several of these in my Cobra Army! Nice job!

that is exactly why i would NOT vote for Red Laser, because it would be an easy repaint...like another CC'd bodied fig is what we have all been clammering for...

and i know Hasbro isn't necessarily gonna produce the custom tha wins, but it will be odd if the RL wins...

don't get me wrong, i think it's great work, i just don't want to give Hasbro any ideas on how to throw even more damn CC's our way (which BTW, i will not buy) i'm done with SE, SS, CC, and Duke, don't care what version they are...unless of couse Hasbro pulls a fast one on me and packs em with someone awesome, say Zap...

i agree. there were much better customs in the run. but, of the three, Ripcord is the best.

Blah, the whole Baroness/Vet Snake Eyes thing left a sour taste in my mouth too. I know Rateg and it sucks he spent so much time on it only to be booted out by the club's decision.

And yes, Swarm is an original character, but it's still based on a TARGET and BAT combined, so I have to thank Hasbro for the inspiration. I whipped a Cobra Warlock and C.O.M.B.A.T. that are also originals characters too, you can find them on my site.

Thanks for everyone who voted, for my Swarm and for their favorites! I'd totally buy a Red Laser and Ripcord too ya know? I just reall hope IF they do a Red Laser, update his look so he's not a repaint with square white eyes. I don't wanna plug mine for that as how he should be done, but here's my take.
