random idea gi joe civil war

ok we've seen marvel do this, we've seen joe vs joe on renegades, and idw's big issue based on cobra's civil war, now what about a gi joe civil war, here's my idea; somehow cobra turns the joes against eachother, no mindcontrol but presidential/government control, a senator or something being imitated by zatan or a turn coat making the joes split into 2 factions, please tell me your thoughts

I think a General US civil war would be the easiest premise to base it off of. East Versus West, or a military coup and some joes continue to follow orders and some fight for Freedom.

Some Colonel decides to take over Joe Forces, (I'm looking at you Courage), and begins to hunt down various Joe agents that are assisting underground resistance movements. Eventually the Resistance gets better organized under which ever Joe leader you pick.

I dislike this idea. GI Joe is military and they have no right to go against the government. Depending on how they think about the war on Terrorism or anything i the Joe Verse it means those who refuse to follow orders shall go to jail and those who actively plot against them once caught would be executed. What sort of story would that be. Duke is serving a dime in jail for not doing his legal duty to the constitution. Snake Eyes shot by firing Squad?

It's happened before, the Civil War, it could happen again. I don't see it being implausible for the Joe team to take sides in some sort of controversial government action. Marvel did it successfully.

I could easily see a civil war scenario going on in the Joe verse. If you're into conspiracy theories, you could imagine the US goverment ran by big corporations and wall street ( what is currently going on anyways), they would decide to fake a terrorist act on the people to give them a reason to go on endless wars and instore the patriot act....then the joes would revolt starting militia...wait a minutes...this sounds familiar... :D

I disagree, Our nations first civil war was fought by soldiers who sided with wht they felt was right against the wrong, good, bad or indifferant I swore to protect this nation against all enemies forign or domestic, that said with what is going on today it will not be a race war or a big bussiness economical war it will be a class war and yes those who have the gold make the rules but history has proven time and time again that a people opressed and pushed to point of desperation and breaking will fight back against a monarchy whos self serving and peacocking and willing to destroy a nation with their greed. with that the soldiers (real world or gijoe) would do what those back in our nations first and many other nations current civil wars would do, and that is side with what they feel is right in protacting this nation. that is what i swore an oath to protect, my country! not some fat beurocrat whos got friends in oil and big bussiness getting richer off the backs of our nations people while giving money we need at home to take care of our own to other countries to rebuild a city our country bombed to keep hold of their investments. Todays soldiers are not just bling sheep, they are loyal, and duty bound but if it came down to it the real constitution would be fought for, not the corrupt corperations and politicians.

it's not a bad idea, somewhat if it been used before so have alot of movie ideas too

depending what esle is going on the military may not go after the rebel joes or be on orders not too.
