I do complete waves when I find them.
2. To open or not to open and why?
Depends... I was a (buy two and open one), However I have been opening all the ROC line.
3. Do you set them up or do they go into a baggy or tote bin.
Both for me, however I have been running out of space for set ups. Mostly the 25th line sadly has ended up in the tote bin for storage purposes, and replaced by the ROC line.
The most important question....
4. Why do you collect?
I love these things. I collect because it is fun.
To copy and paste from your post:
1. Do you buy complete waves when you find them, do you order cases on line, do you buy single figure ie. cherry pick, or are you a completists?
Yes and no, I want all of the different characters but I only want one version of each, I more often than not order online as it's much faster and easier to get the figures as to try and find them in stores around here. I don't always order a case though as it depends on the assortment. For example, Should a case be 1-2 figures I want and the rest are re-paints I don't I'll just get the 1-2 characters I want, However, should there be 4 characters I want I'll get a case as it usually works out cheaper per figure and I'll only get 1-2 figures I don't want and 1-2 extra army builders I do. Basically I get a figure I don't want that I can trade away or use for fodder for free on the case price vs. the individual figure price. The catch is that sometime down the road some characters get a release that I like better than the one I have so I buy that character again.
I am not however a hard completist, sometimes but not often a figure really doesn't do it for me. Say for example the Para-Vipers, I didn't like them and though I did get some through case orderings I traded them away for figures I did want that saved my having to buy a 5-pack or whatever of figures that I only wanted 1-2 of.
2. To open or not to open and why?
Open, not to knock on anyone who collects MOC or anything but I have two reasons for this:
---1) Displaying figures looks nice when there out of the package. When you display them MOC it looks like you're display is a store. I don't like that.
---2) I don't collect for value, I think that's completely missing the point if you're looking use toy collecting as a means to invest your money for financial gains there's plenty of smarter ways to do it.
No offense intended for MOC collectors that's just my opinion.
The only figures I have MOC are doubles I got in cases that I haven't done anything with yet.
3. Do you set them up or do they go into a baggy or tote bin.
I set them up on shelves as I like how that looks. Spares, figures that have been replaced, left over parts go into a fodder box.
4. Why do you collect?
I don't have a set answer for that. Becasue I like to is the best answer I can come up with.
Thanks for your questions, if anything I replied is unclear let me know and I'll try to elaborate.
