I only thought of including him since he is the leader. My suggestion of using the Super troopers as Steel Brigade Officers, led me to include SB Commander as maybe having gone through the same training. There is really nothing on his file card which lends credence to that. We don't even know what rank he is. Colonel may be too high, but maybe a Lt. Colonel? or Commander from the Navy but where would he get the Helicopter training?
I agree while looking through the Various Steel Brigade Filecards, they are separate from SWAT guys. ( I just tend to put them together in the Urban team) Steel Brigade is more of a Security Force. Less Direct Action and more Asset protection and say more staging area/preliminary Base Preparations. But there would most likely be different teams for differnent environments.
And yes Shockwave is a E-7 and should be the team Leader of SWAT ops. You ever notice how they like to make all those guys the door kicker? Who goes in first and who makes up the SWAT Team?
Yeah, I read the Convention Steel Brigade file cards at yojoe.com, and from the description their mission they sound like U.S. Army Airborne Rangers or the British Parachute Regiment. I imagine their training is consistent with that. It makes sense because the U.S. Ranger often act as the support/security element for Delta Operations. That Paras do the same for the SAS. So it seems to makes sense to me - at least for the convention figures - that the Steel Brigade would act like a "Ranger/Parachute Regiment" for Urban Warfare.
The SWAT team would then conduct operations against specific targets withing Steel Brigade's area of operation - SB sets up it's area of operation within a city, and then the SWAT Team can conduct operations within that city, but not under the command of SB - Delta doesn't take orders from the Rangers.
Gung-Ho is the leader of Steel Brigade, and since he's been listed as a E-9 (at least I'm pretty sure he was listed as a SGM at some point), I'm willing to go along with that... as a field commander or NCOIC. I still think there should be an officer in Charge.
Rapid Fire is the "Super Trooper" who seems to be most oriented towards Urban Warfare (at least his 12" figure/file card). However, I don't see any of the Super Troopers as holding a permanent Command position. One guy I've thought of us Bullet Proof...
He's obviously not a member of Steel Brigade, but his Marshall background leads me to think he would be an expert in Urban Warfare. I sort of hypothesize that Bullet Proof could oversee all Urban Operations - and Steel Brigade is the major component of that, so if falls under his jurisdiction. Just an idea. What do you think? Do they need a Commanding Officer? Who would you choose? I don't think of the Steel Brigade Commander as being higher than a Captain or Major - maybe even a Senior NCO... I don't see him as higher than Gung-Ho. But maybe I'm misreading the file cards.
