As Loose Cannon suggested, the X-29 is a good choice.
Alternatively, you could go with a Sukhoi Su-47:
Although the SU-47 was an experimental plane meant as a technology demonstrator like the X-29, it was also a functional fighter jet. It had hardpoints on its wings for missiles, a 30 mm cannon, and an internal bay for more ordnance. There's also rumour of the plane currently being offered by the Sukhoi company to foreign governments as an actual honest-to-goodness fighter. You can rationalize the Joe team having one as part of an OPFOR deal (the same reason that Fort Bliss has an operational Russian Mil Mi-24 "Hind" helicopter on premises), although in the case of the Joes, the OPFOR thing is just a cover to allow them to use a non-DoD approved aircraft.
The other thing is that it might be a lot easier to find a model of the Su-47 in the 3D Warehouse than it is to find an X-29, the physical specs of the Su-47 are a lot easier to find online and there are a lot of actual toy models of it.
