You cant make a real legit arguement until ROC actually comes out...BUT since we're all a bunch of opinionated A'holes..lets continue...
Resolute ruled. G.I. Joe fans grew up and so did the latest cartoon adaption in the Joeverse. I require very little comic relief in G.I. Joe, and we knew comming into this that Resolute would be mature and somewhat dark..which it was.
CC in Resolute was damn serious, and actually still looked like CC. Oppose to a 23 yr old toolbox that looks like he should be drinking at Mos Eisley and not running a terroist organization.
NEO-Vipers? Well I can tell you that B rated horror/sci fi flicks from the 1950's and 60's are missing a crapload of wardrobe right now. Whereas the troops in Resolute looked like just that...Cobra Troopers, and if this progresses and hopefully it will, perhaps we'll see different troops in time.
Marlyan Wayans? ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME??? Of course, I mean who else would I want to see play Ripcord (because you know he wasnt an important Joe or anything)...like I said OF COURSE I want the guy who played in "White Chicks" to assume the role of one of the greatest Joes ever!!
Storm Shadow? Ok well Resolute certainly portrayed him different, and though he wasnt the Tommy Arashikage we knew from comic books and sunbow, he held his own..bottom line a traditional ninja that was dead serious. The ROC SS?...They took someone out of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalog gave him a few swords and had Ray Charles dress him up...its really the only logical thing I can think of.
That Tatum kid...why, why the F does Duke look like the kid who makes my protein shakes at the gym? Lets be serious...movies he can hold down? Fast and the Furious garbage, whiteboy rapping to survive, mixed martial artist that lands hot girl while fighting in an alley...your basic run of the mill crap movies that 18 yr old kids driving dads Benz will see while having the bass too loud and their hat turned sideways. Duke to me is like what Captain America is to Marvel....a strong veteran of the game, maybe mid 30's to early 40's and the epitome of U.S. Army VET!!...Not some kid who has ground effects on his Civic. Resolute Duke? A bit dry..but a damn good leader, and a Duke that gets the respect of OLD SCHOOL Duke fans!
Resolute Roadblock? Well...his name was Roadblock..not Heavy Duty...who everyone knows is Roadblock.
Accelerator suits....thats a good one.
Also ROC Barroness has no boobage and Destro looks like a Halloween costume I made when I was on my last few Amstel Lights.
As far as the the toys go....like it was said previously...Star Wars pulled it off toywise. The movie line toys will clog up pegs...customizers will LOVE this because by fall time they'll be getting figures for a few dollars. The rest of us are just gonna push the stuff aside and look for 25th guys. If Hasbro was smart they would be honest and just put it right on the box of movie figures "Rise Of The Cobra...It aint' Empire Strikes Back!"
I liked Resolute, it was different but it also kept it very real. Where what Ive seen of the movie is prepping for failure of epic proportions...they could have called the movie ANYTHING...but instead they said hey, lets make a film about an international anti terrorist group with specialists, LOOSELY base them around one of the best selling franchises of all time and f it, we're gonna call it G.I. Joe......
On top of everything, the Yankees are losing....AGAIN!
