Every year the info is getting pushed back to closer of the date that it opens.
Lanny, from Mastercollecter always has an excuse and never gives anyone any real answers. Another thing, being part of the G.I. Joe club is starting to become more and more redundant as the info released is nothing new and the newsletters are not up to par IMHO. Just a nother frustrating rant.
Well, let's see. As stated on their discussion boards, the registration form will be in April's newsletter. The info / registration is later this year because the con is in August, not the beginning of July.
Also, knowing what the club goes through to do the sets, pretty bs thing to say about Lanny. I mean, I guess he could repeat the reasons he gives every year (which are totally valid reasons having to do with production issues and figure samples having to go through a few rounds of revisions for a couple of things. No reason for them to show what the figures look like with paint apps or parts that aren't going end up on the final figure) So, the whole "never gives anyone real answers" isn't really valid. Sorry. People start this crap every year without any knowledge of what goes on and it gets damned old for those of us who have been going to the conventions from the start. When Lanny or one of the GIJCC staff tries to explain the reasoning, those people who were complaining in the first place either don't listen or don't bother to try and comprehend things that go on with a business.
I like the club. Do they make mistakes? Hell yes. I don't mind pointing them out. They do try their hardest to correct them when they're made.
I'm not sure how many of you here go to the conventions (well, I know not many of you do), but they're always a damn good time. We talk to the Hasbro Joe design team, we go have beers with them, we have a huge group of friends that always get together. The club presents a great opportunity for fans of all ages to get together and celebrate a freaking awesome line of toys. Are they perfect? Absolutely not. But you have to look past the whole "pay $43 for a free figure, or they don't have exclusive pictures" argument. It's crap. Sorry they can't compete with sites who get their "news" from stolen product samples. The cost of membership actually gets you decent prices on figures, either the same price as BBTS or actually a good amount less. I've never had an issue with shipping, so I'm not sure what the deal was with that. Maybe calling them would have given you an answer. It sure doesn't sound right to be charged for shipping twice.
Call me a club shill, whatever. I'm just trying to she some light on bs claims about them. Take it however you want.
