Sometimes a battle is one-sided and there's no real way around it.
This might sound like an emotional argument, but it's based on what's actually been shown in the comics/toons/etc..., which is all that we have to go on. Facts and evidence are in play. It seems like you're attempting to say we should simply discount those facts and that evidence until we reach some level of parity with the characters. I'm saying that doing so means you're no longer pitting the same characters against each other. It becomes some other animal. Eagle vs. Shark, except the Shark has wings and feathers and can fly and is exactly the size of a bald eagle and has a beak instead of teeth and talons instead of fins.
We've both reached a point where we're arguing about arguing though. I'd respectfully ask you to read my (edited) post (the one you quoted above) completely, as I'm not intending to "drive" you off the thread. Your position just seems self-defeating to me. Or at the very least defeating the purpose of the thread. I understand the attempt to "fashion a framework" but in this case it seems like the frame would be cutting out half the picture. Though if you'd prefer I just insult you in kind with snide remarks, I can oblige.
If you're interested in discussing "scenario based" situations, that's fine too. It's not utterly inconceivable that the Punisher could be defeated. It's just not likely in most situations. It boils down to a case of "anything Beach-Head can do, the Punisher can do (and probably has done) better."
Thank you for your response. I am finding it a bit difficult to respond to you because your posts keep changing. I have, in turn, tried to amend my responses. I think this is a problematic situation.
Let me see if I can summarize...
You think the Punisher would win.
I think it's more complicated than that because the context of each character.
You have stated that to alter the experiences or characterization of either character would change who that character is, so there can be no matrix for comparison to compensate for the different universes.
I would then hold that a comparison without such a matrix is unintelligible; it ultimately makes no sense.
You still think the Punisher would win.
Without any room in your argument for compromise or a means of compensation, we seem to be at an impasse and I never intended for this discussion to be less than well mannered; I am sorry if I have come across as such. Thank you for taking the time to post with me.
If anyone else would like to discuss the plausibility of a matrix for comparison, I would be happy to talk about how the Punisher could work in the Joeverse, or vice versa. The notion of changing the characters to fit together interests me, especially since I am hoping to use the new Punisher figure in my own Joeverse... any ideas as to how to make that work would be welcomed.
