Really? Name them. Specifically those that weren't wrapped up with other films when G.I. Joe was filming, and would likely be interested in directing a movie based on an 80's toy property.

i guess it is because these guys all follow hollywood's "really big opening weekend", as CaliBeachhead32 so elloquently explained.
So why do you automatically assume one of these "young and new" directors would want to do a "Kids video game/cartoon" movie, which is exactly what G.I. Joe was going to be no matter how you sliced it?
Sorry, but when people start spouting off at the mouth about "hackjobs"and whining about a director that on-paper looks perfectly well-suited for G.I. Joe, it sounds a lot more to me like they're really saying "How dare Paramount not hire ME to write and direct the "perfect" Joe movie!"
The cast all this vitriol at the director but offer no real alternatives whatsoever. Or offer interpretations of G.I. Joe that are every bit as "different" from RAH Joe as this movie already appears to be, just in a different direction (IE the "I want a gritty, realistic military action movie!" crowd).
