I also just soaked a Dreadknok cycle I acquired in oxi-clean and I really liked the results. I did keep the water more lukewarm and used alot less oxi clean but came out happy with the results and how it looks.
Any tips on rusty screws? I have read soaking in vinegar works.Just wasn't sure for how long.

So rust can be either topical or the damage can be deeper. In either case I hold the stem of the screw with a tweezers or pliers, (Heed Xero’s warning) and then work the head AND ONLY the head into a dampened Brillo pad, rinsing regularly to monitor progress. Don’t do this to the threads or you can mess them up.
If the rust was just topical the screw will look nice and shiny again. If it was a deeper corrosion then the screw will now be blackened from oxidation. At this point to can just roll with the blackened screw or get a replacement if you want a clean one.
Rise the screw off well and dry it well. Then fold over a paper towel or rag a few times and drip some baby oil or WD-40 into the crease. Drop the screws into the oiled crease, fold over the towel, and work them between your fingers. Just rub them back and forth between your fingers. This will prevent future rusting and safely remove any remaining topical rust, it will also safely clean rust off of the threads without damaging them. I’d also repeat the step with a clean paper towel to remove excess oil. Petroleum products may damage plastics.
If submerging in hydro peroxide isn’t practical you can try a paste. I’ve read some recipes that actually use Oxi. I’ll try to find it and post it. I’ve had success with a paste of peroxide and baking soda mixed to a toothpaste like consistency then add a few drops of tea tree oil and apply with a soft toothbrush or Q-Tip. Please be aware, peroxide only works on white, off white, or light gray plastics. It will ruin any color on your toy. Please be careful.
One final note about restoration. For me, a broken tab or so is cool if it was my childhood toy and doesn’t impede function. I’m not that guy what needs a 9+ collection. My Terror Drome has a broken tab. I broke it 34 years ago. Yes I replaced some busted parts for functionality, but that main base was mine. And that means more to me than any mint one would. My Hydro Foil has a cracked bow. And that’s ok. Don’t be so quick to discard a cherished toy over a busted piece. Anyone one can buy a mint collection. To save a collection from a land fill, a collection that was played with back in the day, is it’s own reward. Toys, like a soul, should have some scars.
Hope this helps.
