Hey guys and gals,
I want to talk to you for a moment about basic standard classes, custom classes and level bonuses.
The old custom class system was kind of a mess. I was never happy with it. This new format is cleaner, more balanced and it gives you the player more control over how you customize your class.
If you are level 7 or higher, you will need to redo your custom class. You can pretty much recreate what you had before but this time you have more control over it. You can use the same name you had before or come up with a new one, it’s up to you.
The custom class is a menu, like a restaurant menu. You just choose which items you want. They are broken up into a few sections: skills, weapon upgrades, and splitting options.
There are 18 total items on the menu and some can be selected more than one time.
At level 7 you get 4 choices, level 8 you get two more, level 9 you get two more, level 10 you get 3 more. By the time you get to level 10, you will have 11 out of 18 items, more than half.
If you already had a custom class and you are rebuilding your class;
Lv.7 players you have 4 menu options
lv.8 players you have 6 options total
Lv.9 players you have 8 options total
lv.10 players you have 11 options total.
————-
Before I go more into custom classes I want to talk about how the basic standard classes work. Everyone can do everything. Everyone can hurt, heal, move, Shield, block. The way I see it, whether you are Joe or Cobra, at some point you’ve had some basic field medical training, at the very least you know you to wrap a wound. Every class has had some basic combat training, even cooks.
If you are a soldier, your specialty is hurt. You hurt for 4 points, everything else is 2 points. If you are a medic your specialty is heal, you heal for 4 points, everything else is 2 points.
For each basic class, their specialty is 4 points, everything else is 2 points.
—————
Now let’s talk about level bonuses. Your level bonus is your level. If you are level 6 you get +6. If you are level 4 you get +4.
BUT, your level bonus can ONLY be applied to your class specialty, everything else is 2 points, that’s it.
If you are level 1 thru 6, you will be playing as a standard class. Your class specialty is 4 plus your level.
So a Lv.6 player as a soldier does hurt -10.
That’s 4 points for the class plus 6 bonus points. Any other post is for 2 points.
—————
Custom classes work a little different. You choose what your specialty is going to be. You can choose up to 2. So for example you can choose hurt and heal. When you use your specialty, your points are whatever your level is. Level 7 posts hurt 7 or heal 7. Everything else is 2 points.
Let’s see what this looks like: a level 8 player has chosen hurt and heal as his two primary skills. He posts
Hurt -8
Heal +8
Move/action 2
Shield 2
Block 2
Now, let’s say that you have already chosen two class specialties and now you want to beef up one of your other basic skills. You decide you want to beef up your move/action. Menu option #6 “add +2 to a basic skill”. So this level 8 player has chosen Hurt and heal as his two primary skills, those are his specialities. But he has also chosen menu option #6 to beef up his move/action from 2 points to 4 points. Now it looks like this:
Hurt -8
Heal +8
Move/action 4
Shield 2
Block 2
*Don’t choose menu option #6 unless you already have chosen two specialties. You can do it, but you are better off choosing a second primary skill rather than beefing up one of them for 2 points.
You also have many weapons upgrades to choose from. You can buy as many as you like. You can use a different one each day, but only one per day.
You can choose several splitting options.
You can only split your primary skills that you have chosen as your specialty.
Let’s say a level 8 player has chosen hurt and heal as his two primary skills. Now he wants to be able to split hurt -4/-4. You can buy that option. BUT remember that this option can only be used for the skill you selected it for. If that player wanted to split heal/heal he has to buy that option again for his heal. If he wants to do hurt/heal, that’s a different menu option.
————-
So let’s compare a basic standard class to a custom class.
Players level 1-6, playing as a basic class: its 4 points plus your level.
A level 5. Player using soldier class does hurt -9, 4 points plus the level bonus.
Everything else is at 2 points.
If you are a level 7 or higher player, your specialty is worth your level, so a level 9 player posts Hurt -9. Everything else is 2 points, unless you have beefed up one of your basic skills with option #6.
Keep this in mind, if you have a custom class, you don’t have to play as your custom class. If you just want to do a ton of hurt or heal and you are not worried having all the other options at your disposal, you can play as a basic class. A level 8 player using a basic soldier class would get the 4, plus 8, so he would hurt for -12. BUT, your custom class can do way more stuff. So it’s your choice.
Team leaders will notice that with this new system their lower level players are much more valuable on the field.
**If you have not setup your custom class by the time the game starts, don’t sweat it. You will be assigned a basic class and you will have a ton of points for your class specialty.
Take a look at the menu and choose your options. If you have any questions I love questions really. Questions help me as much as they help you. Send me a message with your menu options or whatever questions you have.
