Do you think Hasbro got rid of all the o-ring molds? IIRC, they were still selling o-ring joes as late as the mid-2000s (e.g., those TRUS exclusive 6 figure packs). I think a retro line would only be successful if they released figures that were as close as possible to the vintage figures (much like they have done with the SW Retro line).
Like many of you, I would buy the hell out of a Joe Retro line. I wonder if such an idea is on their radar. I know we've had discussions on the board about the current lack of support for a Joe toyline due to our fanbase being relatively small, especially when compared to the overall Star Wars fanbase.
However, I have to think that the customer base for the SW Retro line is comparable in size to and shares significant overlap with a potential customer base for a Joe retro line. The SW Retro line is specifically drawing upon the nostalgic factor with those adult fans who grew up collecting those figures. I suspect that young(er) SW fans of today would have no interest in the Retro line. So, if Hasbro is willing to invest money and resources into a SW line that appears to be targeting a somewhat limited marketing demographic, might there not be a financial justification for creating a Retro line for us Joe fans?
