And as for the original 13, I've always kind of thought alot of them were also a little young. Hawk, Stalker, and Snake-Eyes were obviously old enough. And I kind of assumed (maybe innaccurately) that Stalker and Snake-Eyes were in Nam towards the end, in like 73 or 74, and that they were like 19 at the time. Maybe Rock N Roll was old enough. But the rest of the guys and Scarlett seem too young to me. Steeler was only a 2nd Lt. so he was probably 22 or 23 in 1982.
But this brings up an interesting question. Has anybody ever tried to guess at the ages of the Joes. I mean before they were retconned. I know Duke's original filecard says he enlisted in 1967. If we assume he was 18 or 19, that would make him about 34 or 35 when he joined the Joes. Since he's probably one of the older memebrs of the team, can we kind of extrapolate rough ages for the rest? Do we care?
I always felt like the Joes that were Real men, by this I mean, Gung-Ho, Leatherneck, Stalker, Duke. These Senior NCOs were about the same age as my father at the time they joined. So mid 30s. Like most Delta Force guys.
