On another note, I have friends who were old school Robotech and Voltron fans as kids and now they're just enamored of the new Voltron show on Netflix. What was old can be new again if given the right expression.

An awesome 2-hour script would not be needed, as characters could instead be developed one or two at a time in 40minute episodes featuring them while including other Joe team members. I truly think if it was done this way with long-term direction (think similar to agents of shield, arrow, or one of the half down or so hero-based shows) you could have several years of 20+ hours of patient Joe storytelling. Members could join, leave and be brought back, etc. way more options and by being live-action instead of animated, I would bet it would appeal to a larger audience.
Hasbro screwed the pooch hard with Joes. Hopefully, if they indeed part ways with Paramount and Discovery and have 100% creative control in marketing their own brand through film and television then my hopes will go up. This whole re-inventing the brand just appears to be all fluff; they threw us a bone with that pitiful boxset which was just remolds of prior GI Joes with different headsculpts and a repaint of the most recent Jetfire figure from Transformers Generations. The fact that up until now there is no new trailer for any of these re-imagined cartoons makes me think its to pacify us in the interim while Star Wars, Marvel and Transformers continue to be their primary focus.
I don't know the real reason why Hasbro didn't capitalize on military themed toys for these big box retailers as well? They each were interested in having a long-term contract with a brand that could continue to provide them with an action vehicle line on their shelves whether it sold throughout the year or not. Hasbro had a slam dunk with that since they have a vetted history of providing just that with the Joe line. Just seems like a really big missed opportunity.
Overall, at this point nobody has a clue what Hasbro plans to do with the line. I think a series of well done, newly sculpted figures in boxsets available online (BBTS) is the best way to go until they can get their act together.
