The new B2.5 Acid Rain line was on display at San Diego Comic Con this year and thanks to our friends at Skronex and Beaver, we're pleased to bring you a pictorial review of the Stealth Speeder MK1e! You can check out our 55 image gallery of the Speeder here -
B2.Five Acid Rain Convention Exclusive Stealth Speeder MK1e Gallery
The Speeder is a convention exclusive, but will also be available on the
B2.Five Official Store
in small quantities on August 15th, 2017.*
The Stealth MK1e is a transformable assault vehicle affiliated to the 15th Stealth Team, a new and mysterious team. This item is set in 1:28 scale with fully articulated design, capable of transforming between two modes: vehicle mode and armor mode. The cockpit is retractable with linkage mechanical structure, built to accommodate a pilot figure and can fit any other 1:28 humanoid figures. The 1:28 series are designed with standard detachable joints, capable of switching parts between the same series, allowing you to develop your own personalized army.
As the Speeder is 1:28 scale, its packaging is of course much smaller than what you've come to expect from Acid Rain offerings. The colors on the box pop, with gray, orange and white as the overall theme. No instructions come with the Speeder; Instead, you can scan a QR code found on the back of the box to download a set of digital instructions. Pretty neat!
The Speeder and its included Pilot are packaged within a clam shell that is taped down on both sides. Needless to say, it's secure.
Upon removing the pieces from its packaging, there's something else Acid Rain 3.75" fans should know now - These
feel
much different than the larger offerings and understandably so. The plastic is smooth and both figure and vehicle are quite light.
Don't let that description fool you, as although they're smaller & lighter, they still have an incredible amount of articulation and playability. The Pilot has insane amounts of articulation -
Head
Shoulders
Elbows
Wrists
Waist
Legs
Thighs
Knees
Ankles
That's 17 points of articulation on a figure this size. Crazy! Now, to be fair & honest, the limbs on my figure were popping off quite a bit. Not sure if it's due to their size or just inherit to this piece, but nothing that the old clear nail polish fix won't take care of.
The Speeder was one of my favorite vehicles in the 3.75" line and it's no different in this scale. The transformation sequence is the same as well -
Pull the back wheels out of the frame.
Flip the wheel assembly forward and down, making legs.
Flip out leg supports.
In Walker Mode, the Speeder was quite sturdy and thanks to the interchangeable ports, the vehicle is also quite poseable.
Now that I've had this in hand, I know I'm going to love the full line. It's smaller scale is fantastic "hand kibble" and although this is obviously Acid Rain, its clean, sleek look feels like an entirely new line.
If you're a fan of Mecha and/or Acid Rain, I'd say get your hands on this piece (either the Stealth or Wave 1 offering).
Next up, will be reviewing the Stealth Stronghold ST2e and will also play with the interchangeable features included with both offerings! Stay tuned!
