Each SEAL team also has competent team members with each individual having a special skill, so they can all interdependently work together. A four-man team for instance will often consist of a team leader, a medic/sniper, a communications specialist, and a sonar technician (Luttrell, 2007).
It's from this website
https://sites.psu.edu/leadership/201...ed-to-a-group/
and references this book in the quote
Luttrell, M. (2007). Lone survivor: The eyewitness account of operation redwing and the lost heroes of seal team 10. Little, Brown and Company.
That's about as much of a standard skill breakdown of a 4 man SEAL fireteam I've seen.

I think the writer misinterprets the information. Before Special Warfare Operator (SO) became an official rating in 2006, SEALS had to have non special warfare ratings like gunner's mate, sonar technician, and so on. No particular rating was required to attend BUDS.
They don't openly publish how many members specialize in certain skill sets but it can be interpolated from other information. Also, as a SEAL progresses he can attend more courses, so a senior SEAL is quite versatile. He may have attended medical training, sniper training, and communications courses.
Thanks for the replies guys! I am also finding any hard information on the makeup of a Seal fire team as well. I'll keep digging though....
Now to throw something else into the mix: We have discussed a Delta Operator gaining the additional SQI of "T' and that they retain their current MOS. I have read a couple of sources stating any MOS can try out to become an operator. If that is the case then say, for example, "Joe" a 92F Culinary Specialist tries out for selection and passes. Six months later he gains the "T" SQI indicating he is now a Delta Operator (while retaining his 92F MOS). He is placed in an Assault Squadron but what if he later wants to try out for Sniper School (which last I checked only takes soldiers from the 11 and 18 CMF and 19D's)? Does this leave him with no chances of becoming a sniper?
I think of Combat Support Joes such as Airtight and several of the Combat Engineers. Do they take on a Combat Support role in the Joes or attempt to become "Operators"? This is taking into consideration that the Joe Team is similar to Delta.
