Actually, when you think about it, the 9th ID's designation as a "High Technology Light Division" geared towards testing experimental light armor and motorized infantry tactics and doctrine (source: DoD Congressionally Mandated Mobility Study, April 1981; declassified via the FOIA) sounds a lot like it could have been describing GI Joe in its earliest incarnation as a primarily infantry-based unit using light armor and wheeled vehicles.
Hmmm, Motorized Infantry, interesting find ZuluDelta. I always thought the two-seater stuff was always a waste of a good vehicle. Tho, I wouldnt want to hold onto the railing on an AWE Striker going 40 mph making a short-cut. Im glad Hasbro transitioned to 4-seater style Humvees/vamps.
