Watching that movie made me regret never joining the service. Looking back, I wish I had out of high school.
But yeah, I've always envisioned G.I.Joe as a fictional and hollywoodized Delta Force.
Delta Force is pretty amazing.
After watching the movie, one might think: "No one is that cool".
After meeting that one Delta Operator, I stood corrected. They are totally that cool. "This is my safety, sir."
One point about that movie that isn't accurate is the depiction of Captain Steel (Played by Chris Issac) of the Rangers. He kind of comes across as really uncool in the movie. The real Captain Steel went on to become a Brigade Commander at the 101st Airborne, and one of my best friends served under him when he was Colonel Steel. My friend said he was hands down one of the best commanders he's ever worked under. He said Steel was huge and lifted as much or more than anybody in the Brigade, and that he would have followed Colonel Steel anywhere.
