I used to use the figure release dates as the year of a character's entry into the Joes but realized that created too many age problems because if you're going to keep guys like Stalker and Grunt around, they'd be over 60 years old!
Technically I have two Joe-verses. One is set in the 80s and based on the concept that the Joe unit was developed around the same time as Delta Force, and many of the Joes served in Vietnam. But I also have a modernized Joe-verse, which is based on the most up-to-date military organizations, weapons, gear, etc. The first Joeverse was designed for my personal fictionalization of the ARAH Marvel world that Hama created. The second exists to complement the RPG game I'm working on, which is a very modern Joe unit.
