Though I understand Hasbro's line, I don't think there is much debate about why the line has succeeded (maybe there is?), and that is the classic 1982-1986 characters that we've seen, primarily released on vintage cards that look like what many of us had as kids. The further they stray from this, the more figures we will see warming pegs, I think. Of course, this is inevitable as they have released many (most?) of the pre-1986 figures already, and they are going to do what they can to keep the line going by mixing things up, but the Spytroops characters just seem like a bad idea all the way around. At the very least, don't release Duke with those huge thighs!
Also, I like variety as much as the next guy, but I think Hasbro is pushing it with these figures. Of course, they might only release those Spytroops, and they could also release an Eco-Warrior here or there or a Star Brigade figure at some point, and that might be their way of spicing things up (like the MASK guy and the invisible guy in wave 10) and keeping us from tuning out once the final original characters are released. However, I hope this doesn't become the trend. Let's release some more pre-1987 figures before going too far down this road, Hasbro!
