He posts excerpts of correspondence/interviews he did with Hama in some of the longer and more in-depth figure profiles and even reproduces some of Hama's working notes for some of the older filecards. He doesn't do this for every figure, just the major ones released during ARAH's 1980s heyday. I don't recall if he expressly makes note of all of the filecards that Hama didn't write, but he does mention it in at least a few instances (I don't have the book with me right now so I can't tell you which ones). He also includes notes from 1980s GI Joe toy designer Ron Rudat, whose contributions to GI Joe I feel are vastly underrated in the fan community. Especially interesting is how Rudat's design intent for certain figures were sometimes lost in the filecard writing process. As an example, he designed Low-Light to be a SEAL sniper, but Hama decided to write in his filecard that he was an Army marksman instead. Tracker was a case where I think neither Rudat nor Hama intended for him to be a SEAL, but he was listed as one in the final product (again, my recollection might be inaccurate, as I don't have the book in ready reach at the moment).
It's a great book and one of the most informative "behind-the-scenes" resources regarding the ARAH era, hurt only by some poor production values manifesting in the form of iffy page layouts and a serious lack of professional proofreading and editing (the systemic grammatical errors and typos in there will awaken your inner Grammar Nazi if you have one lurking inside you).
