G.I. Joe

I can't even begin to take this commentary seriously. A preference for the cartoon is one thing, but the suggestion that it showcased superior writing is patently absurd on its face.

There were no "better" episodes of the cartoon. It was, like most animated series in the 1980s, dumbed down for the lowest common denominator among children.

As opposed to the cartoon? Puh-lease.

Well, Dial-Tone, they're gonna here about the Broadcast Energy Transmitter all over the world. Pure energy, pumped through the air.
DIAL-TONE
Yeah, unlimited power, anywhere, anytime we want.
DUKE
If it works.

The B.E.T.'ll work perfectly, Duke. I can practically feel its little semiconductors singing under my fingertips.
the dialogue all flows from beat to beat.
Ha! Yes, the movie that never even saw a theatrical release and a television series based on one of the most popular toy lines of the era, yet only managed to stay on the air for fourteen months? The animated series featured the most contrived, juvenile stories imaginable, so any attempt to compare it favorably to the writing of Hama - who could tell an amazing story
without
any use of dialogue at all - falls flat on its face.
Honestly, how can an audience ever become invested in characters who never face any danger?

Which is why he was selected to write both

and

, right? Ask any writer working in comics today about Larry Hama, and you'll hear only praise and respect.

IMDB is not at all known for its accuracy when it comes to projects currently in development. They run with user-submitted rumor constantly.
