Thanks!
As I'd mentioned in a previous post, here are some of the cartoon-exclusive characters that I'm "importing" into COBRA's roster, to fill out the lead positions and such.
First row: Mary Demming, George Latimer
Second row: Datu Ali, Clayton Moore
Design notes:
Mary Demming is based on Crimson Guard Cadet Demming, who appeared in the two-part episode
There's No Place Like Springfield
(written by
Howard the Duck
and
Foolkiller
creator Steve Gerber). They didn't actually reveal her first name in the cartoon (and she didn't get voice actor credit either), so I appropriated "Mary" from Mary McDonald-Lewis, the voice actor who most likely read her lines (McDonald-Lewis was the go-to person for many uncredited female roles in the ARAH cartoon). Updated her uniform to be that of a "full" Crimson Guard (although with the buttons and button-hole placement reversed, as is usually done with many female uniforms), and not the "cadet blue" she wore in the cartoon.

George Latimer is based on Admiral George Latimer, the Navy officer who defected and joined Cobra in order to save his ship from the scrap heap in the episode
Sink the Montana!
. I thought it was a particularly "dark" episode when I was a kid, and remains one of my favourites to this day. Instead of the uniform he wore in the cartoon, I've given George the standard higher ranking COBRA officer dress uniform (I'm thinking of making him a retired lieutenant commander instead of an admiral, since I don't want him "outranking" Major Bludd, even if they're technically civilians employed by COBRA).

Datu Ali was a Filipino mercenary employed by Cobra to train and recruit thugs and other potential troopers in the episode
Ninja Holiday
. He'll be a "reformed" terrorist employed by COBRA as a consultant and adviser, similar to how some PMCs (private military companies) in the real world occasionally hire mercenaries with dubious records to beef up their personnel count on the ground (maybe I'll make him the recipient of a presidential pardon, which is how some former MNLF members have managed to return to civilian, and even military, employment). BTW, before this even gets out there, I'm not trying to caricature militant Muslims as "villains" with this portrayal, but it would also be deliberately disingenuous of me to pretend that terrorists of an Islamic background don't exist (or that they haven't had business dealings with some controversial US-based PMCs), especially since I'm trying to depict COBRA as existing in "our" world with this project.

Clayton Moore is based on Lt. Claymore, a Cobra officer from the two-part episode
The Traitor
(also, the only black guy in Cobra's ranks, apparently
). Why he didn't have to wear a mask while all his teammates did, we'll probably never know
. I decided to use his real name, instead of "Claymore" since it would just make for some unnecessary confusion (since the GI Joe team has
a member with the Claymore codename
as well). They never actually revealed his real name to be "Clayton Moore" in the cartoon, I got the name from the filecard that came with the 2007 International GI Joe Convention-exclusive figure (seen
here
) based on the character.

Thanks for looking!
