Interesting. India's one of those countries that people seem to forget has a pretty big industrial base for weapons manufacturing (not to mention that they've got some great indigenous engineering minds). India's been using locally designed and produced assault rifles for several years now... quite a feat, considering that the militaries of most nations use originally sourced copies or licensed derivatives of either the AR15/M16 or the AK-47 for their standard assault weapon. They even beat weapons manufacturing giant China in fielding a locally designed rifle (up until recently, China's standard assault rifle has been a copy of the AK-47, made in state factories).
And just to bring the thread slightly back on topic, it's quite the coincidence that Larry Hama's attempt to disguise Hasbro artist Ronald Rudat's name in Dusty's filecard (for those who've forgotten, Dusty's file name is listed as Ronald Tadur) has resulted in him having an East Indian surname (Tadur, alternatively spelled Tadoor, is a common village name in Andhra Pradesh state in Southeast India, and it is somewhat common practice among certain communities that don't use traditional surnames to adopt the name of their village as their surname for official documentation purposes... in fact, one of Andhra Pradesh's former MPs is named Tadur Bala Goud). A quick google also reveals a Biology professor of presumably East Indian descent teaching at George Mason University named Sateesh Tadur. Seems like a fairly common South Asian surname.
