Sure, piston engine and turboprop driven planes might look quaint by modern sea-based aerial warfare systems standards, but turboprops (like the OV-10 Bronco and the Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano) are still the mainstay of current insurgency and counterinsurgency air warfare, and I think would be right up Cobra's alley.
I imagine they would work for Cobra vs. small country, but not so well vs. Gi Joe and the might of the USAF (but then we see that anyway ;)).

If we take the stance that Cobra is a legally recognized corporate organization, I just can't see the US government allowing them to use DoD-exclusive technology (such as the A-10). And even then, a single A-10 would be horribly expensive (around $12 million), even for a large-ish corporation. A whole squadron (never mind a wing) of the aircraft would probably bankrupt a company unless they were being paid as part of the standing air force of a nation.
Have we already discussed Cobra's cash flow (I'll have to scroll back and have a look-see)? If we're talking unit costs here, what about the Cobra subsea base, large submarines (or was that Destro's) and bloody great space shuttle to boot?
And I can't see the DOD being water tight to Cobra spies, etc., then take the plans and build them in the Far East/Russia to cut the cost (we already know they break down alot, so that would make sense
).
