Just found out I get New Years Day off this year.
So I am considering taking off from work @ 3pm on the 31st and driving 3-4 hrs to Ottawa from Toronto to spend NYE with my best friend, his gf, and a few other friends I have up there.
Festivities yet to be determined.
I, of course, invited my girlfriend to come with me.
He response.. well I usually hang out with my friend on NYE every year.. like we did last year with her and her b/f at the time along with my bro and my roomie.

So now I am getting flack for wanting to go somewhere else and not spend it with her friend..
Am I wrong for wanting to do something fun on NYE with my best friend? We havent done anything together on NYE in about 4 years.. am I being selfish? should I just relent and say FML I'll stay in Toronto with you and your friend b/c your being a baby and dont want to go?

Some New Yorkers view New Years in NY as the only place to be. You could have recommended a night at the Taj Majal and she'd have turned her nose at it. I doubt it has as much to do with her friend as it is the "Palce to be" when it comes to NY Eve.

Not all have that opinion. But married to a New Yorker I can tell you it is part of their mindset.
